The first time I ever heard of, or saw, pony play was on an HBO series called Real Sex. They had a segment called “Ride Pony Ride” which featured men as the horses and women riding them. I will admit I found it interesting, but not a particular turn-on, as I couldn’t imagine myself being the dominant and riding someone like that. I’d seen a few pictures of women geared up as well, but that didn’t do much for me either.

Several years later, I read a wonderful book, Carrie’s Story by Molly Weatherfield. It was only the third full-length BDSM or erotic story I ever read (The Story of O by Pauline Reage and Us by Anonymous were the first two), and it had a bit of pony play in it, this time with a woman. Told from her point of view, it was even more intriguing, especially as it went into more detail and was a bit more explicit. Carrie was intelligent, witty, and so willing to go along with and enjoy what was happening to her. Then I read Safe Word, the sequel, which went a lot more into the play and activity involved, and it was arousing, especially since it was Carrie’s thoughts and telling of events, and not someone else’s – it was so personal that it did make me wonder what it would be like, to do that for someone I loved or was in service to.

I am somewhat curious about pony play. I can see the attraction, with the gear, harness, bit, hoof gloves, and even the plug tail (and I do have a thing for tail plugs). My partner isn’t interested in pony play in the least, so I don’t see ever experiencing it, whether I had an opportunity or not, unless he’d change his mind and want to play this way. I do think it would be interesting, though, to talk to someone who actually engaged in pony play, and watching such a session in person would be something I’d at least like to do.

Kink Of The Week : Marks

After a particularly painful session...

After a particularly painful session…

Marks – I’ve certainly had my share. When I was younger, having a mark usually meant having a hickey, and boy did I have some dark and painful ones. The kind that even makeup wouldn’t hide effectively, but a band-aid or high-necked shirt usually would. That was until we got smart (maybe), and my breasts would be virtually black and blue. I used to give them to my partner sometimes, usually on that wonderful area by his penis, on his hips.

When we started kinky play, marks took on a different meaning. Since, as I’ve mentioned, I have this lovely skin condition where I can hang on to marks for literally hours (not bruises, mind you, although those stay forever as well) – even the trail of a fingernail against my skin will cause a red line for that long), leaving marks can be quite interesting. For myself, sometimes I like to see them on my skin – I have to look in the mirror to see my very red, and often very warm, ass. Sometimes it will just be a red area or a handprint from a spanking, and other times it will have more lines and marks, depending on what my partner was doing. The only other place I have marks sometimes is on by breasts or back – and all of these are easily concealable.

I don’t have a fetish for marks – I think they’re more of a turn on for my partner, but I can take them or leave them. They’re just an outcome of what we do, although I will hold off on the allergy pill if I know we’re going to get a bit more intense so that they’ll last longer for him to look at. I don’t think this is really a fetish of his, though – it’s just a way for him to enjoy what he’s done.

Kink Of The Week: Blindfolds

It was quite a while into our relationship when we first used a blindfold. It was actually a sash from my bathrobe at the time: silky, wide, and not exactly opaque. We were playing around when my partner pulled it from my robe, which was lying at the end of the bed, and wrapped it around my head and over my eyes. I could kind of see through it, but through two layers all I could really distinguish were shapes, and I was a lot more focused on what he was doing, and savoring his trail of kisses from my neck to my clit.

I like using blindfolds, whether or not we’re using any other kind of bondage. Having no sight makes me focus on other sensations and heightens them for me: the caress of a finger or flogger tracing down my skin or his tongue in my mouth floods me with arousal. When he sucks on my breasts or my clit, it’s more intense, even than when I’m looking in his eyes. Sounds are amplified as well – being unable to see makes me tingle in anticipation of what’s to come. Or in my case, cum. Blindfolds are effective when he’s using the flogger, crop, or just spanking me as well, as I don’t know when the next strike will fall, and this amplifies the pain even though he’s not striking me harder than usual.

We don’t use blindfolds all the time, but they are a sensation enhancement when we do. Even though we still use things like scarves and sashes, I have actual blindfolds now. All of the ones we use are comfortable. There’s nothing worse for me than to be focusing on something rubbing on my eyelids and hurting my eyes instead of paying attention to the rest of my body and what delights my partner will inflict on it.

All Hogtied Up

The New Year is almost here, and as I mentioned in a previous post, what better way to make it festive than with some functional and lovely bondage gear? Cal Exotics’ new Scandal line has a variety of items to mix and match for a sexy, coordinating bondage play time. I love being restrained, and I do love being hogtied. This month, as part of the Cal Exotics’ Sexpert program, I was fortunate to also receive the Scandal Hogtie set for free to review in exchange for an unbiased review.

hogtieboxThe Scandal Hogtie set from Cal Exotics comes in a large cardboard box, with a woman restrained with the set on both the front and back of the box. The fabric pattern is shown on both the bottom and on the inside of the box. Inside are four matching cuffs and the hogtie piece, sealed in plastic.

hogtieoutofthepackageThe four polyester cuffs are identically sized. Each cuff is 2” wide and 10” long. The underside of cuff is covered with plush black fabric, which won’t irritate your skin, while the top of the cuff has a pretty red and black lace-design fabric. These cuffs close with Velcro, and a 1” wide strip is sewn down the middle of the cuff front. About 7” of the Velcro is rough, and the smooth Velcro extends 6” off the cuff. This makes the cuff very adjustable, and it should fit most wrists and ankles. If you have small wrists or ankles, the cuff will overlap; if they’re larger, you may have a section of skin that’s only covered by the Velcro strip and not the cuff itself. Each cuff has a black metal O-ring secured to it in the center, and this has a swivel-clip attached. The swivel clips can be used to attach each cuff to the hogtie, as well as to each other or any other ring or apparatus (like a spreader bar).

hogtiesetThe hogtie piece is black, with a large O-ring in the center, and four smaller O-rings connected to the center ring by 1” wide black material. The material is securely fastened together by rivets, so it won’t break or tear during use. All of the metal is nickel-free iron (the O-rings and the rivets) or a nickel-free alloy (the clasps).

The cuffs are easy to connect to the hogtie piece, and are also easy to remove.

This is an easy to care for set. The cuffs and hogtie can be spot cleaned, or they can be washed in a lingerie bag and hung dry. The set doesn’t take up a lot of space, so you can store it in a small bag, or even just in a drawer. The box is too large to store the set in, but it can be recycled.

cuffonwristSo, Did It Work? This hogtie set is a lot of fun – provided, of course, you like to be hogtied (which I do). The cuffs are comfortable and easy to adjust, and we had no problems connecting them to, or removing them from, the central hogtie piece. Everything seems sturdy, and it was as comfortable as it could be when in the position of me on my stomach. It is possible to also clip the cuffs to the pieces when you’re on your knees, although for me this position is a bit harder to hold. I like that the cuffs completely detach from the hogtie piece as well: they can be attached to each other, a spreader bar, a leash, or other rings as the mood strikes.

Thank you to Cal Exotics for sending me the Scandal Hogtie set for free to review as part of their Sexpert program! The Scandal line has several coordinating pieces, including an under the bed restraint set, collar and leash, blindfold, ball gag, paddle, harnesses and a spreader bar for sexy fun in red and black.
