How Deep Is Beauty?

I love Jopen toys. While my favorite line is the Vanity line, I’ve enjoyed vibrators from their Key, Lust, and Envy lines as well. This year, one of the new lines Jopen introduced was Callie, and I received Jopen’s Callie Dual Massager Vibrator (part of the new Callie line) from Good Vibrations for free to review.

rabbitinboxThe Callie Dual Massager Vibrator, which is a rabbit style, comes in a white and gold box, with the toy visible through the front and product information on the back. Inside the box are the toy, USB charging cable, and general information booklet. The box is fine for storing the toy and charging cable together, or you can use a toybag. You will want to keep the cable with this one.

rabbitoutofbox

This rabbit-style vibrator is made of a creamy white silicone, and it’s quite pretty. The silicone is smooth with very little drag. The toy is about 7 3/4” long overall, and the shaft rabbitinhandis 6 “ insertable. It has a tapered tip for easy insertion (you’ll want to use your favorite water-based lube), and at its widest is 1 3/4” in diameter. The clit stimulator is about 2” long and 3/4” wide. It’s flexible, and easy to position.  Both the tip of the shaft and the clit stimulator have motors in them.

rabbitchargeportThe charging port for this vibrator is hidden, but easy to access. The gold base (made of ABS plastic with metallic plating) can be twisted open to access the port. Unlike other USB chargeable toys that I have, this uses a rabbitpluggedinmicro-USB to USB connection, with the micro-USB port inside the base. It takes about 2 hours to charge the vibrator (it will glow red while charging), and it will run for about 50 minutes on high or 1 1/2 hours on low when fully charged.

The bottom of the base has a large acrylic gemstone button to control the basic functions of the toy. Pressing and holding the button for about 3 seconds will turn the vibrator on or off. Once on, pressing the button will cycle through 7 functions of steady vibrations, pulsation patterns, and escalation patterns.

rabbitbaseEach function of this vibrator has 5 intensities from low to high. Instead of more buttons, however, the controls for changing the intensity are located on one side of the toy, right above the base. The controls are a “+” and a “-“, and they are indented into the material.  The indentations are tricky to locate when you have the vibrator inserted; you can squeeze both sides to increase or decrease the intensity.

rabbitbuttonsThis vibrator is quite strong on the high settings, and somewhat loud – you’ll want to have some background music on to hide the sound. It’s completely waterproof, so you can take it into the tub and play.

Like all silicone, waterproof toys, this is easy to clean with antibacterial soap and water, toy cleaner, or wipes. You can store this in its box, or in a toy bag.

rabbitflexSo, Did It Work? The Callie Dual Massager Vibrator has some good points.  The motors in both the shaft and clit stimulator are strong and well placed (although I don’t think they’re quite aa strong as the Vanity line). The clit arm is long, and flexible, and is easy to position where I need it. I like the simplicity of the single button for controlling the vibration pattern as well as the on/off, and I like several of the vibration patterns.

I have mixed feelings about the charging port location. I’m not crazy about having to remove the base to get to the port (because I lose things), although this probably makes the port more waterproof than otherwise.

rabbittipWhat I’m least fond of are the “+” and “-“ for controlling the speed. Because they’re indented and not raised, they’re hard to find – almost impossible for me to actually feel – when using this toy. I can squeeze around the base, but it’s tricky when I’ve got this vibrator inserted, and soemtimes I squeeze too high or too low and change the speed the direction I don’t want to go.

Thank you to Good Vibrations for sending me the Jopen Callie Dual Massager Vibrator for free to review! While this isn’t available yet at GoodVibes.com, the other items in the Callie line are, and you can check them out by clicking the widget below.

Squeeze For A Cause

Last month, Cal Exotics announced Inspire, a new line of products created to support Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a non-profit organization. Proceeds from the Inspire line are being donated to support this group, and products in the Inspire line include wands, teasers, a dilator kit, breast massager, and kegel exercisers. In addition to the Vibrating Ultimate Wand, which I reviewed recently, I also received the Vibrating Remote Kegel Exerciser for free to review.  Why exercise your kegels? Doing kegel exercises strengthens pelvic control, and they’re easy to do. They’re fun to do, too, with an exerciser.

kegelinboxThe Vibrating Remote Kegel Exerciser from Cal Exotics comes in a clear plastic box, with the toy and remote both visible. The box sits inside a cardboard bottom box, which has product information on the sides and back. Inside the box are the egg with retrieval cord, its remote, a USB charging cord, R&TTE (European compliance) statement card, general instructions for Cal Exotics’ toys, and instructions for this toy’s use.

kegeloutofboxLike all products in the Inspire line, the Kegel Exerciser is a pretty, pale bubblegum pink. The insertable exerciser is covered with s smooth, soft silicone, and is waterproof, while the remote is ABS plastic with a PU cote.

kegelinhandThe egg-shaped exerciser is about 7 1/2” long overall, including the cord (the body is about 3” long). The cord is silicone, and part of the body, so it’s easier to clean than other insertables. It’s somewhat stretchy, and easy to remove the exerciser with.

The egg itself is about 1 1/2” in diameter. The silicone has some give, and the tip of the toy is tapered, and also squishy. It’s very easy to insert (you’ll want to use a bit of water-based lubricant), and stays in place where you put it. It has a button towards the lower half of the egg, which must pressed to turn the exerciser on – not vibrating, but ready to receive signals from the remote.  It can also be inserted and used without any vibration, or you can set the vibration speed without the remote by pressing and holding the button for 2 seconds, then pressing it to cycle through the functions (pressing for 2 seconds will turn it off). The exerciser is rechargeable, and the charging port is on the opposite side of the egg.

remoteinhandThe remote is about 3” long and 1 1/2” wide, and it’s small and easy to hold. One of the coolest things about the remote is that it is rechargeable too! If there’s one thing I find annoying with remote-controlled toys, it’s that that remotes usually take an odd-sized battery, and it always dies at an inopportune time. The charging port is on the end, and the USB charging cable provided has 2 jacks, so both the remote and exerciser can be charged at the same time. This is awesome!  It takes about 2 1/2 hours for a full charge, and then the exerciser will run for 30 minutes on high, and 1 1/2 hours on low.

The remote has 3 buttons on the front to control the exerciser. Once you’ve pressed the button on the egg and inserted it, you can turn it on by pressing the middle button and holding it for 2 seconds. The top and bottom buttons will cycle through the patterns – there are 10 in all, including steady vibration, pulsing patterns, and escalations – either forwards or backwards. This is great, as you can easily go back to the pattern you like if you pass it without having to go through all of them. You can increase the vibration speed by pressing and holding the top button (on the opposite end of the charging port), and decrease it by pressing and holding the bottom button. You can turn off the exerciser by pressing the middle button for 2 seconds. The remote has a range of about 16 feet.

kegelcharge2The vibrations are moderately strong and more on the buzzy side. They’re very quiet, so you can use the exerciser pretty much anywhere with no one being the wiser.

This is easy to clean (warm water and antibacterial soap, or a toy cleaner), and also easy to store – it’s best to store in a toybag with the remote and charging cord.

So, Did It Work? This is a fun exerciser! I love vibrating eggs, and this one is quiet, decently strong, makes me want to squeeze my kegels, and has a great variety of functions. I like that the retrieval cord is part of the egg and silicone. The remote buttons are pretty cool – being able to cycle back and forth makes it easier to find the pattern I want to use. And what I really love is that the remote is rechargeable – and can be charged with the exerciser. No more digging for N or watch batteries when the remote dies.

I Love To Cuddle

I’ve had a few OhMiBod vibrators, all of which worked with my iPod and were enjoyable to use. Now they have a line called Lovelife, which don’t use music but do have pretty designs, and they look like fun. GoodVibes recently sent me one of the new Lovelife vibrators, the Cuddle G-Spot, for free in exchange for this review.

ohboxThe Cuddle G-Spot vibrator comes nicely packaged. It has a slipcase in pink, and a cutout the size of the vibrator inside on the front of the box, through which the pink and white interlocking-heart-patterned box shows. It looks a bit strange, and reminds me of a pantyliner, which would actually make the box somewhat discreet if the back didn’t have a picture of the vibe. ohinboxThe slipcover sides have some information about the toy. The box itself is a pink and white design, and is pretty sturdy – ideal for storing the Cuddle when it’s not in use. Inside the box are the vibrator, a white satin storage bag, a USB charging cable, and an instruction manual in several languages, which includes information on the one year warranty. This vibrator only comes in pink and white, like the rest of the products in the line.  The color is nice and not too light.

ohoutofboxThis G-spot vibrator is about 6 1/2” long overall, with 4 1/2” insertable. The insertable portion is silicone, and it’s slick to the touch with very little give – what give it has is around the tip; the shaft is firm, and the toy isn’t flexible.  The head is the widest point of the Cuddle, at about 1 1/4”, and the shaft narrows as it gets closer to the base.  The shaft has a gentle curve, allowing for G-spot stimulation.

The Cuddle is rechargeable, and its charging port is located on the bottom of the white ABS plastic base. The jacked end of the charging cable is easy to insert, and the other end can be inserted into a computer’s USB port or a wall adapter. The Cuddle takes about 2 1/2 hours to fully charge, and will run for approximately 2 hours on the strongest setting (longer on lower settings). The white LED light around the control buttons will flash while the toy is charging, and will glow steady when charging is complete. It has a standby time of about 90 days, so you can charge it up and it will be ready to go when you are.

ohbasebuttonsThe control panel is located on the front of the base. Three buttons are located inside the heart-shaped control panel: a +, a -, and a ~. Holding the ~ button for three seconds turns the Cuddle on or off, and pressing it briefly during use changes the vibration and pulsation. The + and – control the strength of the seven vibrations or patterns, and there are six different levels for each. The vibrations are moderately strong, and concentrated mostly in the tip, so you can use this for clit stimulation as well. They’re pretty quiet, too, especially when the Cuddle is inserted.

The Cuddle is splashproof but not waterproof, so you won’t be able to use this in the shower or bath. It’s easy to clean with water and antibacterial soap (don’t submerge it or get water in the charging port, and just wipe the base if necessary), toy cleaner, or toy wipes. Once it’s dried thorougly, it can be stored in its satin bag or in its box, along with its charging cord.

ohinhandSo, Did It Work? I love the Cuddle. The curve and size work well for me, and it’s easy to hit my G-Spot. The vibrations are not strong enough for me to get off if I use this on my clit, but internally they’re enough. I also like that the patterns can be changed in intensity – usually these patterns are only one strength, but with the cuddle, I can set them as strong or as weak as I’d like. The charge time and run time are decent, and I like that it charges via USB. The only thing I’d change with the Cuddle would be to make this waterproof – I’d love to be able to take this with me in the tub.

Set Sail

I’m always looking to expand my dildo collection. Why, you ask? It’s true that I have a wide variety of dildos already, but I don’t have as many realistic ones as I’d like. Many of the ones I do have are thicker, and there are times when I want one more average-sized.  I picked the Admiral to review for free this month from Good Vibrations, in exchange for this unbiased review, as it looked like it would fill all of those needs.

admiralboxThe Admiral silicone dildo from Pleasure Works comes in a cardboard box with the product featured on the front and back.  Inside, the Admiral comes in a plastic bag. The box isn’t the best for storage, so you’ll want to use a toy bag or keep it on your sex-toy shelf.

admiralaloneThis dildo comes in three colors: vanilla, caramel, and coffee, and I received mine in the coffee color, which is a rich, chocolate-y brown.  It’s made of silicone, and it’s decently squishy, yet holds its shape nicely.  The surface isn’t tacky, but it does have a bit of drag, which lube takes care of nicely.

The Admiral is 7 1/2″ long, and realistically shaped. Its head is detailed and has a small ridge, but the ridge is soft and doesn’t cause any discomfort during use.  The shaft is just 1 1/2″ wide, gently curved, and has a light veined texture. It’s firm, yet flexible, and feels good internally. One thing that’s nice is the base, which is fairly flat. The balls are textured and easy to grip onto, and the base width is thin enough to allow the Admiral to work in a harness for vaginal or anal use.

admiralflexThis dildo is easy to clean before and after use. It can be washed with antibacterial soap and water, boiled, or run through the dishwasher without soap. Once dry, it can be stored in a toy bag or on the toy shelf.

Water-based lube is recommended, although if you prefer silicone, do a spot test on the base to make sure there’s no reaction between the toy and the lube.

So, Did It Work? I like the Admiral.  This is one of the thinner dildos I have, and I really like how it feels internally. Vaginally, the curve works well, and the head is firm enough to hit my G-spot during use. The balls make it easy to keep the curve going the right direction, and they also help to hold onto it with lube-covered hands and thrust.   It works anally as well, although I prefer smoother heads.

Thank you to Good Vibrations for sending me the Admiral for free in exchange for this review!  If you’re looking for a realistic dildo with good texture, length, and flexibility, yet not too large, the Admiral is a good choice. You can pick one up at Good Vibrations by clicking the banner below.

By Your Command

I’m woefully behind on my reading, and after finishing the interesting (and non-erotic) story of  pregnancy and ghosts, The Summer of the Ubume by Natsuhiko Kyogoku, it was time to sit down and enjoy some erotica. I love BDSM tales (I’m currently rereading Safe Word by Molly Weatherfield, soon to be reviewed), and I’ve just finished Best Bondage Erotica 2012, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel.

This review was written by me, and was previously published on another website with non-exclusive rights.

In this collection of stories, Rachel Kramer Bussel has pulled together a variety of couplings, situations, and means of bondage, some of them quite unusual, and many of them hot. The stories may get you excited just reading them, and several of them may give you an ideas for new situations you’d like to try. Ice, anyone?

Best Bondage Erotica 2012 was printed by Cleis press in 2011. This 201 page book is an oversized paperback with a glossy cover, and it contains 21 erotic stories all dealing with bondage .

The book is edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, and the Forward is by Midori. Short blurbs about each editor, and also Rachel, are included at the end.

In her forward, Midori talks about how bondage is a fantasy for a lot of people – probably more people than you realize – and how the lust for bondage stirs passion and desire. She asks the reader if they’ve given in to their bondage desires, and then suggests they place themselves in the characters’ situations and see what risks they’d be willing to take on, and what desires they’d fulfill, as they satisfy their hidden appetites.

On to the introduction, where Rachel introduces the topic of the book and notes that the majority of stories submitted for this collection involved women as the dominants and men as the submissives. Not all of the stories have this theme, but it’s strongly represented. She gives a brief introduction to several of the stories before turning the book over to the reader.

In the stories in this book, the characters have given in to their desires, some in quite unusual and daring ways. Most of the stories involve heterosexual couples, and they vary as to the dominant partner, although more feature the woman on top. There are a few same sex pairings and exploration, threesomes, voyeurism, and even some daring self-bondage. The bondage has a lot of variety as well: handcuffs, opera gloves, spanking, gags, rope play, corsets, and heavy teasing, just to name a few.

As with any collection, there were a few stories I didn’t care for, but I liked a lot of the stories in this book. The three that I enjoyed the most:

“Melting Ice” by Shoshanna Evers Amanda takes the day off of work to enjoy a bondage session: to be bound and forced to endure orgasm after orgasm. She’s got everything she needs: handcuffs, a bed, a rabbit vibrator, and the handcuff key frozen in ice. Will she be able to endure her self bondage session and free herself once the key is released?

“The Spider and the Fly” by Salome Wilde Nick has a thing for Paolina, from the way she ties him to how she uses her strap-on. He’s a bit shy and private, though, and isn’t willing to join her in a club performance. At least, that’s what he thinks as he heads to the club to watch the show. But will he change his mind and play the fly to her spider?

“The Cupboard Under the Stairs” by Kay Jaybee With her husband home, the turning of the key to open the cupboard excites Kristi with the pain and pleasure it promises. But this time, Mark blindfolds her and puts headphones over her ears. Will the absence of her senses lead Kristi to new heights of pleasure, and how long will it take to discover the other surprise Mark has for her?

All in all, the stories in these pages are hot, and even if you’re not into the play described, it may make you curious to discover a bit more about it…and in the process discover a bit more about yourself and your desires. And you also may wonder when you’re done: just how long would it take for an ice cube to melt if you…? Is that cupboard under the stairs feasible to make in your house…?

While Best Bondage Erotica 2012 is no longer available, you can pick up some other good reads at Good Vibrations.
