Watch It Squiggle, See Me Wiggle…

If you’ve ever read any of my reviews, you’ll find that while I use thinner toys on occasion I much prefer ones that have a bit of girth. I also typically prefer silicone or other non-porous materials, mostly because of the horrid smell that so many of the rubber ones have. So I was intrigued, but a bit leery, when I received the Sassy Swirl Squiggle to review as part of the Cal Exotics Sexpert program.

The Sassy Swirl Squiggle, which from here on in I’ll just call the Squiggle, comes in an easy to open clamshell case with an insert providing some product details. It looks pretty impressive in the package, and you can tell it’s got a good size.

The Squiggle is made of phthalates-free PVC (with an ABS cap). Normally with PVC toys the smell assaults my nose even before I open the package, but with the Squiggle it’s different. It does have a smell, but it’s very faint. I could smell the slight rubber scent when I put it up under my nose, but a foot or more away and I couldn’t smell it at all. This made me pretty happy! After a few washes and dries the scent remained, but I found it to be light enough to not be bothersome in the least.

The Squiggle is a pretty, translucent purple in color. It’s soft and a bit squishy on the surface but with a firm inner core. It has pretty swirls that run down the body. Through the PVC you can see the white vertebrae of the core through the center of the shaft. These vertebrae are flexible and allow you to bend the shaft at an angle for optimal stimulation. It doesn’t have an extreme bend – I’d say around 45 degrees or so, but it’s enough of a bend to get the head at just the angle you like.

This is a nice sized vibrator. It’s 8 1/2″ long, with 6 1/2” insertable. Its 1 3/4″ diameter is a pleasant, filling size. The head has a slight curve for g-spot stimulation, and it’s firm enough to me the pressure I need to climax. It’s also waterproof, so it’s safe to take into the shower or bath (although it’s much easier to use in the tub).

The Squiggle takes 3 AAA batteries, which are inserted by twisting off the unusually shaped cap. A battery holder slides out, and the batteries are both easy to insert and remove. You have to be careful how you put this holder back in to the vibrator, however. There are 3 arrows on the holder, which indicate which end must go in first. In addition, the metal on the end must come into contact with the metal that runs inside the compartment. If it doesn’t, the Squiggle won’t turn on. Once you have these correct, you’re ready to play.

The bottom of the cap has an elongated button with two touch points. The one point is indicated by a raised nub: this turns the toy on and also cycles through the functions. Pressing the other end of this button, where it is smooth and flat, will turn the Squiggle off. The bottom around and under the button glows with an orange LED light in tempo to the pattern you have the Squiggle on.

Is it tricky to get the right button pressed during use? At first yes, but after you’ve tried this a few times you’ll be able to easily finger the nubbed button for pattern changes. If your finger is pretty slick with lube, however, it’ll be a bit trickier.

One of the coolest things about the Squiggle is that it has a memory chip (which I’ve only seen on a few toys, but I love, love, love it!), so it turns back on at the last setting you had. This is a great feature, and allows you to keep the Squiggle on your preferred setting every time.

The Squiggle has 10 patterns, which are:
– super fast pulses followed by a longer fast pulse
– fast pulses
– stronger fast pulses
– very fast pulses
– lower pulses
– longer pulses
– low fast pulses
– steady high
– steady med
– steady low

The vibrations are concentrated in the tip of the Squiggle, but they can be felt about halfway down the shaft. They are fairly throbby and strong, and also pretty quiet. The Squiggle won’t be heard under the covers or behind a closed door.

The Squiggle is easy to clean both before and after use with warm water and antibacterial soap. It can be patted dry and stored away in either it’s packaging or a simple storage bag. Since it’s PVC, both water-based and silicone lubricants are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I really like this vibrator. The size and texture are great, and I love the overall design. I was originally skeptical of it being made of PVC, but it’s both phthalates free and virtually odorless which are big pluses to me.  I also love the flexible neck. It allows me to bend this and get the head and tip angled just right for the g-spot orgasms I’m cumming to love more and more.

The vibrations are pretty strong and throbby, and they can be felt nicely inside. They really feel good in the tip, and are strong enough to allow me to orgasm. I love, love love (can I say that enough times?) the memory feature. I tend to be a mostly one or two pattern girl, and I hate having toys with a lot of functions where I have to cycle forever to get to the one I want. With the Squiggle, I don’t have to do this – I can just turn it off when I’m done and turn it on next time right at the pattern I want.

One thing I would have liked is a way to cycle back and forth through the patterns. Especially with 10 of them, that’s a lot to go through to get back to the one you want if you’re playing around and trying other patterns.

Overall, the Sassy Swirl Squiggle (try saying that 10 times fast) is a good vibrator. It has the size, the length, the bending, the strength, the patterns, and the memory feature to make picking this one up a good choice. It’s one that I’m glad to add to my collection!

Pleasurists adult product review round-up

Bunny, Bullet, Battery, Babelube : Blast!

Kits can be a lot of fun, particularly when they’re small in size and big in function. They’re great to travel with or toss in your purse for when the moment is right. I loved the name of this kit, so I had to request it this month from Babeland.com to review.

The Orgasm in a Box for Her contains an assortment of products to use for an orgasmic experience. The Box is small at 4”x4”, and it’s white with a pink cardboard “ribbon” around it. and Inside, wrapped in pink tissue paper, is everything you’ll need to add some spice to your night (your contents may vary slightly): a Babeland branded bullet vibrator, bullet sleeve, 2 AA batteries, and 4 small samples of lubricant.

The bullet vibrator is black, and stamped with Babeland’s logo on the front. It’s a standard corded silver bullet, with 30” cord. The controller has a heart slider to control the intensity. The battery compartment lid is hinged to the toy, and the compartment holds 2 AA batteries, with the direction clearly labeled. The vibrations are fairly strong and buzzy. It’s a bit loud, but no one will hear it if you’ve got some music on. The batteries are included in the box, so you don’t have to hunt around for any. It’s easy to clean with some soap and water, but be careful not to get water in the bullet end or on the battery pack, as this isn’t waterproof.

To go with the bullet is a bunny sleeve. The sleeve is purple, and made of skin safe elastomer. It’s a bit squishy but not too tacky, and it’s also odorless and phthalates-free. The bunny is about 3 1/2″ long, with separated ears to tease and tickle your clit. The sleeve is easy to place on the bullet and also to remove, and it transmits the bullet vibrations into the ears and head effectively, particularly on high. They really move about, and are a lot of fun. This sleeve is easy to clean with soap and water.

The included blister packs contain BabeLube, a waterbased lubricant that’s non-irritating and slick without being sticky. These packets can be used with the bullet and bunny, or you can use them in other ways with your partner.

So, Did It Work? This is a simple, yet fun kit, and I love that the batteries are included. I’ve found that keeping a bullet vibe handy is always a good plan, and this bullet is strong enough to get me to orgasm, although it takes me a while. I love the bunny sleeve! The ears really get going, and they don’t stop dead when you apply pressure but instead continue to flick about. I didn’t find I really needed the lubricant with the bullet, but I used it with my husband and it worked well and lasted a decent amount of time. I thought it tasted a bit bitter, but my husband didn’t particularly notice. This is a great kit for a gift, and also great to have stashed away for yourself.

You’ll Find a Cove for This Pirate Vibe!

There’s just something about pirates that oozes sex, whether on the screen or in books, and makes pirate themed toys appealing.  It’s also fun to play dress up in a wench outfit with my partner and get into the whole scene.  While I still haven’t seen Digital Playground’s Pirates, I have tried several of their themed toys, including the Pirates Pendant Vibrator and Katsuni’s Revenge of the Sea.    Janine’s Pirate’s Cove vibrator looked like it would be another fun one, so I was happy to receive this from Babeland.com to review.

Janine’s Pirate’s Cove vibrator comes in a in a clear plastic box attached to a large plastic background.  A picture of Janine from the movie Pirates is on the background on the front, while the back contains some product info and suggestions for other Pirates-themed toys.  Inside the box is the vibrator and a black satin drawstring bag (lined in pink) for storage.
This is a traditional vibrator.  It looks saucy and ribald inside the box, and even more fun when you’ve got it in your hand.   It’s substantial, and at 8” long with 6 1/2″ insertable, weighs more than it appears to.  It’s also wider than many traditional vibrators.  The tapered tip widens to 1 1/4″ before filling out to about 1 1/2″ towards the base.  The tip has a dimple on the top, but it doesn’t affect the use.  This vibrator is meant for clitoral stimulation or vaginal insertion, but it shouldn’t be used anally due to the lack of a flared base.
The surface of the Pirate’s Cove is velvety smooth, with no drag.  All over the shaft, with the exception of the tip, are pirate-themed designs reminiscent of tattoos: flowers, skull and crossbones, fish, swords, stars, and anchors.  These designs are all fun and bright, and aren’t raised from the surface.
The base of this vibrator is black, decorated with 2 rows of clear rhinestones.   It unscrews to reveal the battery compartment, which holds 2 C (yes, C) batteries.  Battery direction is labeled with a piece of paper inside the compartment.  While this paper can be removed, I’d advise against it – it helps keep the batteries from rattling and dampens the noise.  An O-ring is present under the threads, but the box advises that this toy is splashproof and not waterproof.
The bottom of the base is rounded, and a clear button with the number 5 is in the center.  This button allows you to cycle through the five functions of the Pirate’s Cove, and also turns it off.  The functions for this vibrator are:
       low and steady
       medium and steady
       high and steady
       fast pulses
2 short and 1 long pulse (repeats)
The vibrations are strongest in the tip, but they can be felt nicely down the shaft.  They’re more throbby than buzzy and feel good.  This vibrator is not terribly loud when used internally.
The Pirate’s Cove is made of ABS plastic, so it’s phthalates-free and easy to clean.  It should  be washed both before and after use with antibacterial soap and water and dried with a soft towel.  It is splashproof, but care should be taken not to submerge this vibrator so water doesn’t get into the battery compartment.  Water-based and silicone lubricants are both safe to use, although you won’t need a lot to get this one slick and ready to insert.  After use, this vibe can be stored in the provided pouch.
So, Did It Work?  Overall, I like the Pirate’s Cove.  While the C batteries don’t give it quite the punch I was expecting, they do provide enough power that I can have an orgasm.  The taper of the tip works well for clitoral stimulation, and I like using this internally because the vibrations are throbby.  I like how this has five different settings (although I could do with just the high and steady and the patterns) and the patterns make this fun to use.    Plus, I love the look of this toy and the size of it for a traditional vibrator.
The button on the bottom is a bit too easy to press for me if I really get going, and I have to remember to keep my hands on the side of the base.  My husband had this problem too, as his palm kept hitting the button when he’d thrust this into me.  Sometimes surprise pattern and intensity changes can be fun, but if I’m anywhere close to orgasm, I prefer them to stay the same (usually on the high vibration setting).   As long as we remembered to keep fingers and palms away from the bottom, we didn’t have too much trouble.
I do wish that this was waterproof, and it seems that pirate toys should be.  I’d love to take this in the tub, but it’d end up in Davy Jones’s locker and I’d be unhappy.
Thank you to Babeland.com for sending this to me for free to review!  If you like pirates and would like to give the Pirate’s Cove a shot, you can get yours at Babeland.com

  • Product Review: BonBon by Liberator by Rayne
  • I love this thing. Love it.The first time I used the BonBon was an amazing experience. It’s almost the perfect height, and holds most toys at exactly the right angle (except Tantus’s Curve, apparently… I couldn’t get comfortable when I attempted to ride the Curve.). And it took a serious amount of self control to hold off an orgasm completely unaided by fingers or vibration. This is huge for me, and I think it’ll help me to figure out a position in which I can orgasm during sex with M.

Note: A long but easy to read review that made me want to try BonBon. I especially love the first image of the matching Vixen Randy stuck into the BonBon. Simply gorgeous!
