Sometimes Happy, Sometimes Sad

Sometimes I like my toys smooth, and other times I like a bit of texture. While looking for a new textured vibrator to try, I found the Spiral of Bliss at EdenFantasys. It looked fun and was inexpensive so I decided to see what it could do.

The Spiral of Bliss comes in a case that’s easy to open and is visible through the front. Some product information is on the front and repeated on the back. It has a light scent out of the packaging. The scent is very faint and not unpleasant, but it is there.

This vibrator is quite pink. The finish is matte, so the surface has a bit of drag when you run your fingers over it. It’s soft to the touch, but not quite velvety. It is 7 1/2″ long from tip to base, with about 6 1/4″ insertable.  The Spiral of Bliss is meant for vaginal use, but can also be used clitorally.  It doesn’t have a flared base, though, so this should never be used anally.

When you look at this toy from the base, you can see that this is a sleeve over a plastic vibrator but it isn’t removable. You can pull it out from the vibrator quite a bit, but I couldn’t get it to slide or come off at all without risking tearing the sleeve.

The Spiral of Bliss has running, pronounced ridges running from the tip to the base and it reminds me of soft serve ice cream. The ridges are about 1/2″ wide, and it’s 1” from crest to crest. The ridges add internal stimulation when the vibrator is turned inside instead of thrust.

This isn’t a thin vibrator – it increases in size quickly from 1 1/4″ in diameter at the tip to 1 3/4″ down the shaft. What detracts from the look of this vibrator is the seam running up one side and down the other. It’s not as noticeable across the tip, but it is very pronounced on the sides and makes this look cheap and somewhat unappealing. The base also looks put together wrong – it has a seam running through the base ridges and they don’t quite line up.

This vibrator is powered by 2 AA batteries. They are inserted by unscrewing the base and dropping them in + side down. There is a small diagram in white inside the compartment showing the direction. An O-ring sits at the bottom of the threads to make this waterproof, but the base doesn’t tighten enough and is very easy to loosen which defeats the whole purpose of the O-ring. Water can also easily get between the sleeve and vibrator and become trapped.

The Spiral of Bliss has 7 functions controlled by a button labeled 7F on the base. Around the button are arrows between the words Off, On, and Mode. They refer to what happens when you press the button, but at first I thought it meant you had to turn the base, which doesn’t do anything but loosen the base.

When you first press the 7F button, the Spiral of Bliss comes to life. The following vibration patterns are available:
– Low and steady
– Medium and steady
– High and steady
– Fast pulse
– 1 long pulse followed by 4 short pulses
– roller coaster in distinct steps – almost sounds musical
– double long pulses that increase in intensity from low to high

A final push of the button turns it off. The vibrations are moderate and more buzzy than throbby.  They felt better externally than internally.

While the packaging merely claims this is silicone, it’s actually TPR silicone. It is hypoallergenic and phthalates free. The Spiral of Bliss should be cleaned before and after each use with warm water and antibacterial soap or your favorite toy cleaner. You really need to be careful when cleaning that you don’t get any water near the base. Since the sleeve can’t be removed water can easily become trapped between the sleeve and the vibrator. Only water-based lubricants should be used.

So, Does It Work? This one was ok, but it didn’t thrill me, and I had several issues with it.

The blunt tip was easy to insert, and the swirls felt good going in when my husband twisted this. They also were pleasant whether thrusting or turning the vibrator. One problem we had, especially when trying to twist this, was that it was easy to turn the base and shut this one off. We tried to tighten it as tightly as we could and we were unable to get it tight enough to stop doing this. This was also a bit of a problem while thrusting when my husband’s hand would slip, although it didn’t occur quite as frequently.

While I like the design, the seam made this one look cheap. I also didn’t care for the way the sleeve could be pulled from the vibrator to allow water to get in, while not coming completely off to dry. The looseness of the base didn’t seal this well at all in water, allowing water into the battery compartment unexpectedly when I went to twist this inside. There’s really no other way to grab it easily and twist, so I’d recommend not trying that unless you’re not in the water.

It has a decent number of patterns, but  the vibrations aren’t as strong as I’d like. Since they are more buzzy, surface vibrations they aren’t as stimulating internally as they could be. They work fairly well clitorally, though, and the firmness of the material really lets you press this into your clit. The battery life is also pretty good.

I bought the Spiral of Bliss from EdenFantasys. If you’re interested in giving this one a try, you can purchase it by clicking on the widget below.

Pure And Simple

Lately I’ve been fascinated with – nay drawn to – metal toys. I love the weight, the feel, everything about them. Originally all I had in metal were a variety of plugs. Although I’m now the satisfied owner of the njoy Eleven, when I first decided to expand my collection a little bit more I opted to pick up the njoy Pure Wand from EdenFantasys.

The Pure Wand comes in the signature njoy black box with a white outer wrapper. The box is hinged, and inside the Pure Wand rests on a bed of hot pink satin. A small booklet is included with information on the Pure Wand and other njoy toys. The box is ideal for storing this toy when it’s not in use.

This is not a light toy. The Pure Wand weighs in at 24 ounces, which is heavier than a lot of other toys that I have. It’s smooth and seamless, and cold to the touch out of its box. The Pure Wand has a gentle curve which reminds me a bit of a bass clef in music. Measured along the curve, the Pure Wand is 10” long.

The Pure Wand is designed for g-spot and p-spot stimulation, and is double ended for your choice of size. The small end is topped by a 1” diameter ball and narrows below the ball to its minimum 1/2″ diameter in the shaft. The shaft gradually widens along the curve until it reaches the other end and meets the 1 1/2″ diameter ball.

The Pure Wand works great for solo play. It’s not so heavy that it will tire your arms out easily, and the curve makes it easy to use. It works better for shallow thrusting and pressing on your g-spot. It also works well anally. You can use it with your partner as well, but you’ll want to be careful as the balls can hit uncomfortably inside if either of you thrust with this too fast.

This toy is made of medical grade stainless steel, so it’s very easy to care for. It can be washed with antibacterial soap and water, or cleaned with your favorite toy cleaner. You can also run it through the dishwasher on the top rack, boil it on the stove for 3 minutes, or wash it with a 10% bleach solution. It should be dried and polished with a soft cloth to keep it shiny and spot free. Any lubricant can be used, and just a little bit will do you.

So, Does It Work? I had hoped to achieve a squirting orgasm with the Pure Wand, but that hasn’t happened yet. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s so thin for me or I just don’t get enough leverage. It is, however, a fun toy to use. I like this for either solo play or play with my husband, as long as he doesn’t go crazy fast. It does hit my g-spot, and feels great. I think I’d like this better vaginally if it was a bit thicker.

This is a fun toy for temperature play. Running it under warm water heats it up nicely, and under cold water or for a short time in the refrigerator chills it down. It doesn’t take it too long to heat up to body temperature.

I do really enjoy this for anal play. Again, no hard and fast thrusting. I’ve found that this has to go at a slow, easy rhythm.

While I think I’m partial to the Eleven, which is a much larger metal dildo, the Pure Wand is one I’ll be keeping in my collection. I purchased mine at EdenFantasys, and if you’d like to try the Pure Wand for yourself, you can purchase one by clicking on the widget below.

Black and White Elegance

My husband and I like to play around with bondage and dress up, and we both find collars and cuffs immensely appealing on me. They aren’t something I’d ever think to wear out of the house, however. When I saw the Cocktail Party Collar and Cuffs set from Ruff Doggie Styles at EdenFantasys, the set really appealed to me.

This set comes packaged flat in a simple plastic bag. It comes in either black and pink or black and white: I chose the black and white. All three pieces are made of a soft, supple leather that has a light leather smell. Each piece is black leather on one side, and white leather on the other, both fine-grain. The edges are smooth and flat, and the pieces are stitched together with black stitching on both sides that is even and secure. The pieces are well made and should last for a long time.

The collar is 17 1/2″ long from end to end, and 3 1/2″ wide when laid flat. When folded over the collar is 1 3/4″. When it’s folded over and snapped, the collar looks just like a shirt collar. The collar is fastened by one top snap and two bottom snaps for adjustability. On the first snap the collar will fit up to a 16 1/2″ neck, and on the second up to a 15 3/4″ neck. If your neck is significantly smaller, this will be rather loose.

The cuffs are each 9” long and 4” wide. When folded over, they are 2”. These look like shirt cuffs when folded. The cuffs also have one top snap and two bottom snaps, and fit 8” wrists and 7 1/4″ wrists depending on the snap used. Just like the collar, if your wrists are a lot smaller, these will be loose.

Both the collar and cuffs are reversible, so they can be worn with the white overlaying the black, or the black overlaying the white for a completely different look. The only thing that looks different is when the black is used on the outside, it’s the bottom of the snap you see at the closure.

The leather is smooth against the skin and feels comfortable to wear, although it will trap a bit of sweat between your flesh and the pieces.

Since these are made of leather, they are easy to care for. They can be wiped with a damp cloth and soapy water if necessary, and can be conditioned with leather cleaner.

So, Did They Work? These looked wonderful on! The collar fit my neck fine and wasn’t too loose, and the cuffs fit well on my wrists. The first night I wore them with the black as the cuffed part, and paired with a black leather skirt and black boots they looked really cute and really made the outfit. I tried them with the white as the cuffed part, and under a blazer as well. It’s not what I would wear out of the house, but it looked pretty hot for dictation play. My husband found these very sexy.

These aren’t meant for heavy play, but look wonderfully decorative and really complete a look, whether worn with a skirt or by themselves. Gentle tugging is fine, but a hard tug on the front caused this to come open. It may not be as easy to open on smaller necks if there’s more space between your neck and the collar.

I bought mine at EdenFantasys, and you can pick up the Cocktail Party Collar and Cuffs set for yourself by clicking the widget below.

Tulip Or Cow Horn? Cute Either Way

The Tulip Wand is an interesting vibrator that I picked up from EdenFantasys.  The packaging it comes in proclaims “Cow King’s Horns (L)”, and if it weren’t pink, you could mistake it for one (and in green it’d look like an alien antenna).  This really made me chuckle.   It’d be even more amusing if there were 2 in the box, however, as you could adapt these to a headband for a costume.

This vibrator comes in an easy to open clamshell case and is visible through the front.  Product information and directions are on the back.  This one comes from China and it has one of my favorite toy box slogans ever, which I’ve seen on a few other toys – “Enjoy Your Happy Life Everyday!” – which is a wonderful slogan to live by.
This does look a bit like a tulip bulb sitting upon a stalk (although I really like the other visual better).  The whole toy is 9” long measured along the curve, with about 6” insertable.  The toy is smooth and velvety to the touch, but since it’s made of plastic it’s firm and inflexible.  This vibrator is meant for g-spot stimulation, although it also works clitorally.  It doesn’t have a flared base, so I’d recommend against using it anally.
The head is 1 1/4″ long and 1 1/8” wide with a pointed tip for easy insertion.  It narrows in to about 3/4” when it starts the stalk and widens to 1 1/4″ right above the control button.
The control is on the front of the toy.  It’s red and shaped like a peanut.  The top has the #7 on it to cycle through the functions, while the bottom is labeled on/off.
The bottom of the wand unscrews to reveal the battery compartment.  It takes 2 AAA batteries, and their direction is clearly labeled.  An O-ring is nestled under the threads to make this waterproof when the cap is securely tightened on.
Pressing on/off turns the wand on at a fast, steady vibration which is felt strongly in the tip and to a lesser extent down the shaft.  Subsequent pushes on the 7 yield:
       high steady vibration
       very high steady vibration
       throttle-y rev up
       fast pulse
       super fast pulse
       very high steady vibration
fast steady vibration (the initial speed when on)
The vibrations are buzzy and mostly surface vibrations.  On the high speeds it sounds like an electric toothbrush, with a rather sonic whine at a high pitch.  The sound can be very distracting while using this – it made me feel like my teeth were on edge.
The wand is made of ABS plastic with a polyurethane coating so it’s nonporous and phthalates-free.  It has no taste or smell.  It’s easy to keep clean: simply wash before and after use with antibacterial soap and water and gently dried.  Water based and silicone lubricants are safe to use.
So, Does It Work?  The sound aside, this is a decent vibrator for clitoral stimulation.  The head is just the right size and it’s easy to get pressure where I need it.  The vibrations are decent although not earthshaking, and I’d be a lot happier if they were stronger.
The firmness and length allowed for good g-spot stimulation, but this wand was a bit too thin on its own.  When used with another toy, however, it worked much better and really pressed inside where it needed to.
The sound was what bothered me the most with this one.  I don’t mind a loud toy (I am an avid Hitachi user), but when the sound is too high pitched it makes me grit my teeth.  The patterns and the lower two steady vibrations are just noisy – it’s the highest steady one that gets to me.
If you don’t like superstrong vibrations and prefer a smaller width toy, the Tulip Wand isn’t a bad choice for g-spot experimentation.  Just be prepared for the sound.  I got mine at EdenFantasys and you can too by clicking the widget below.

24 Hours Of Decadent Pleasure

Although Afternoon Delight always brings to mind that song – and don’t you imagine skyrockets in flight? – this collection of 24 short stories (each by a different author) published by Cleis Press and edited by Alison Tyler doesn’t occur just in the afternoon. Instead, the stories run from pre-dawn excitement through morning, noon, and evening, with the last stories taking us full circle to the wee hours of the morn.

Afternoon Delight (erotica for couples) was published in 2009. It is 179 pages, with three reprinted stories (from 2003, 2006, and 2008). This is an oversized soft cover edition (8” x 5 1/2″), with the front featuring a picture of a woman and man in a passionate embrace. The back of the book lists the included authors and some tease about the stories. Alison has an introduction to the stories featured in the book, and the last few pages list the authors and their previous writing publications. Some of the writers are new to the genre, while others have been widely published in books and magazines.

The stories are all short, and easy to read in a 5 to 10 minute sitting.

This is erotica for anyone who enjoys reading of the sexcapades of almost exclusively heterosexual couples (mostly married) who are sometimes adventurous or rekindling their love. Only 1 story features two women as a couple, and the first story (which is only 2 short paragraphs long) is ambiguous.

A few of the stories have a bondage or light fetish element to them. While not all of the stories are stellar or arousing almost all are explicit, and there is a nice selection of stories that evoke a sense of fantasy and a desire to reenact them afterwards.

The stories here cover it all, from tickling, reconnecting, lingerie collections, tales of days gone by and sex in the office to exhibitionism, surprises, and role-playing. The stories I enjoyed the most had a bit of play-acting to the lovemaking, with the couple stepping outside of their usual boundaries to experience something new and erotic.

Several stories really created a sense of excitement for me.

“Breakfast In Bed” by Andrea Dale explored an erotic morning between a husband and wife, who are in a comfortable yet boring relationship. When the kids are away, the husband delights his wife with a smorgasbord of breakfast delicacies while keeping her arms tied to the headboard.

In “Nooner” by Bella Dean, the wife comes home at noon from an exhausting night shift to find her husband home unexpectedly. A fun and edgy dictation episode ensues with some master/slave play.

“Disco Queen” by Sommer Marsden features a couple that find an old disco dress while cleaning the garage. With instructional notes and a cleaned dress, the wife finds herself the star of a disco party for two.

In “Matinee” by Quinn Gabriel, a couple trying to reconnect find an erotic way to do so in a theater.

The hottest story in the book for me was “The Date at South Station” by Xavier Acton. Here, a husband picks his wife up in a bad part of town. She is totally transformed into a street prostitute, and she takes him for a wild ride in a seedy hotel, getting a little more than she bargained for in return.

I came away from this book with several ideas for spicing up my own relationship. Many of the stories were exciting and arousing, and all around this was a good read.

I’d recommend Afternoon Delight for those looking for ideas, as well as those just wanting to read about couples seducing each other at all hours of the day. This isn’t the book you’ll want to pick up, however, if you’re looking for erotica featuring anything but a man and a woman in love.

This book is one of two featured by the Sexis Naked Reader Book Club this month. If you’re interested in reading Afternoon Delight (erotica for couples), you can pick up your copy from EdenFantasys.
