Fall is here, and things are changing – and finally getting less hectic. It’s been a while since I’ve had the fun of reviewing a CalExotics product, and given my propensity for rabbit vibrators, I was excited to receive the Jack Rabbit for free to review.
The Jack Rabbit comes in a clear clamshell case, with the toy visible through the front, and an insert with product information behind it. This toy is available in 3 colors: pink, blue, and purple, and I received mine in pink, which is a light, bubble-gum color. The case is easy to open, and contains the vibrator, USB charging cable, and an instruction sheet.
This rabbit vibrator is made of silicone (with the exception of the base, which is ABS with a PU cote, and the decor, which is sliver plated ABS), and it’s odor and phthalate free. The silicone is soft and smooth, and has no drag to the touch. There is some give down the shaft, due to the silicone being loose over the inner workings of the toy – this also makes the shaft a bit flexible for better positioning. The shaft is gently curved and about 5 1/2” long, with a maximum 1 1/4” diameter, and even with its rounded head is easy to insert.
The clit arm is shaped like a rabbit, with nubbed nose and ears that are joined. It’s 2 1/2” long and about 1” wide, so it nestles comfortably against the clit when the shaft is inserted.
Rechargeable toys are always a plus, and the Jack Rabbit is charged via the included USB cable. The jack slips into the charging port on the back side of the toy, and the other end can be connected to your computer’s USB port, or to a wall adapter. LED lights under the silicone backlight the buttons in a flashing pattern while the toy is charging – the lights will glow steadily when charging is complete, which will take a maximum of 3 hours, depending on the charge remaining in the Jack Rabbit when it’s plugged in. Once fully charged, this rabbit will run for 3 1/2 hours on high settings, and up to 6 hours on the low settings.
The Jack Rabbit has 3 motors: 1 in the tip, one towards the bottom of the shaft, and one in the clit arm. These 3 motors aren’t controlled separately, but work together in the Jack Rabbit’s patterns.
The front panel has 3 control buttons, which are silicone and easy to press. The middle button is a dedicated on/off button, so you can turn the Jack Rabbit off quickly if necessary. Pressing this button once turns the toy on and backlights the buttons, but doesn’t power up the motors. The top button is the pattern button, and each press cycles between the following patterns:
– moderate steady vibration in all three motors
– steady, long vibration in the shaft, followed by 4 pulses in the clit arm
– 3 medium-long vibrations in the shaft, followed by 3 short pulses in the clit arm
-long vibration in the shaft, 5 short vibrations in the lower shaft, then 3 long vibrations in the clit arm
– reverberation up the shaft 2 times, then clit arm revs down once
– shaft tip and clit arm rev up twice, then lower shaft revs down
– clit arm revs up twice, then the top of the shaft revs down
When the Jack Rabbit is turned off and then back off, it starts at the first setting. So what do you do if you like another setting better? This is what the bottom button is for. This button is marked R, and is easy to use. Once you’re on the setting you like, press and hold the R button for about 3 seconds – it will rapidly flash – and this will set the pattern. Now, you can turn on the Jack Rabbit and press R, and it will immediately go back to the setting you stored. If you change your mind at some point and want to store another pattern, simply go to that pattern and hold the button down for 3 seconds.
The vibrations are moderately strong in the modes, and are more throbby than buzzy. The different patterns are almost musical, and the shaft motors are loud if the Jack Rabbit isn’t inserted (they’re not entirely silent when it is inserted, but they’re definitely a lot quieter), but they won’t be heard with some background noise or music on.
This vibrator is waterproof, so it’s great to take into the tub with you. Being waterproof also makes it easy to clean before and after use with some antibacterial soap and warm water.
So, Did It Work? The Jack Rabbit has a lot going for it. The size of the shaft is great, the silicone has a great feel, and the slight curve makes it easy to insert. The clit arm is long enough for me to have the vibrations hit where I want them to. I love the idea of a memory button – it’s a rare thing that I like the first vibration pattern, and this way I can go right to the setting I want to use. The vibrations aren’t overwhelmingly strong, but they’re strong enough to get me going, and ultimately get me to orgasm. Plus, this is rechargeable and has a long running time, which is good for those marathon sessions.
The only thing I would change about the Jack Rabbit is the vibrations for the clit arm. While I like pulses internally quite a bit, I prefer steady vibrations on my clit – and only the first setting has the steady vibrations. I would love to have been able to control the clit vibrations separately, and pair those steady vibrations with the different shaft patterns.
Thank you to CalExotics for sending me the Jack Rabbit to review! If you’re looking for a rabbit vibrator with a moderately sized shaft and multiple vibration patterns, that’s rechargeable and has a memory for your favorite setting, and you don’t need constant steady vibration on your clit, this is a good rabbit vibrator to look at.
