Kink Of The Week: Sneakers

I like a good pair of sneakers. I’ve had a few favorite pairs over the years, including a lovely pair of cobalt blue suede Nikes (no, no humming of Elvis songs when I wear them), and a pair of Coraline sneakers (also Nikes) that I won from a contest. I usually don’t call them sneakers, I admit – to me they’re all tennis shoes.

I’m not a big fan of white ones – I much prefer colors, partially because I cannot keep white ones clean. My current traditional pairs are white and lime/neon green, grey and bright yellow, and bright red with yellow, white, and black accents. They’re in various stages of wear, from brand new to so close to falling apart they really should be retired. I hate to pay a lot for them, and I think my newest pair (my grey/yellow ones) were more than many of my regular shoes and boots! Above all, though, they have to be comfortable to walk in and wear, whether I’m running on the track or walking around town. Now, I do have two pair of high-heeled sneakers – one pair with a wedge, and one pair with a stiletto heel. They’re more hybrids, really, than real sneakers, but they are cool and unusual nonetheless.

I’ve never thought of sneakers being a specific turn-on. I notice them on others if they’re an unusual style or color, and I buy them based on color and style, but I’m not attracted to them in any sexual way (now high heels and sandals? Total shoegasm here). I’ve had people tell me they’re turned on by some of my heels and boots, and even my bare feet, but I’ve never had anyone say they’re hot for my sneakers. There’s always a first time – and I’d happily wear that pair for someone if it turned them on.
