The Lovely, Luscious, and Lime(!) Lelo LIV 2

I have a lot of Lelo toys, including Gigi, Ina, and Mona. I love Mona the best, but she does have her flaws, like not being waterproof.  I’d seen the new line online, and I was thrilled when Lelo contacted me about reviewing one of the new toys. I selected the LIV 2, which I received for free in exchange for this review.

liv2boxcoverThe LIV 2 comes in 4 colors: plum, blue, cerise, and lime green. You can guess which one I had to have, right? No question: the lime green (why there are not more green toys out there amazes me). The outer box color matches the toy color, and a picture of the toy is also on the box. Inside, LIV 2 rests in a foam  cutout (much nicer than how the packaging was for a few toys like Mona and Ina), making the box great for storage. A cardboard lid lies to one side: under this lid are the charging cord, a satin bag for storage, a warranty card (plastic) to use to register your product, a sample of Lelo Personal Moisturizer, and a multi-language instruction booklet which has general information on using the toy’s control pad and also has the information on the 1 year warranty and 10 year quality guarantee.

liv2intheboxI chose my LIV 2 in lime green, and it’s a beautiful color, summery and warm. It’s made of silicone with a slick, matte surface, firm shape, and no seams on the shaft, making the LIV 2 easy to insert with a very small amount of lube (you may not even need any).  The firm shape also makes it easy to hit your G-spot with the curved tip. The base is made of shiny white ABS plastic, and it’s separated from the shaft by a silver colored band. The LIV 2 is modestly sized, at about 6 1/2″ long (7 1/2″ measured on the curve), with 4” insertable (4 1/2″ on the curve). It’s about 1 1/4″ wide at the widest point.

liv2chargeportOne big difference between the LIV 2 and the original LIV is that this new version is waterproof. Although there isn’t a cover or port over the charging hole, water won’t get into the toy, making LIV 2 great to take into the bath.

LIV 2 is rechargeable, and has an internal Li-lon 3.7V battery. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge, and can be used for up to 4 hours on a charge (about 2 hours if you use your LIV 2, like I do, on the highest vibrations). An LED-lit circle of light blue around the buttons flashes while the toy is charging, and glows steady when the charge is complete.  LIV 2 has a standby time of 90 days, so you shouldn’t have to worry about it being charged when you need to use it.liv2chargeglow

The control panel is a circle on the front of the base. It has + and – labels on the left and right, and an up arrow and down arrow on the top and bottom. Pressing + increases the power, and pressing – decreases the power and also turns the LIV 2 off. The up and down arrows can be pressed on any power level and cycle up or down through the LIV 2’s 8 patterns (you can get back to steady vibrations by repeatedly pushing the down arrow). This feature is unique to Lelo toys, as far as I’ve been able to tell, allowing you to utilize the patterns at whatever vibration level you’re comfortable with.

liv2inhandThe eight patterns are:

    • Slow pulse
    • Medium pulse
    • Faster pulse
    • Fast rev from low to high
    • Slow rev from low to high and back
    • Slower rev from low to high and back, which lingers on high
    • Pulse pattern that alternates between low pulses and high bursts of power
    • Similar pattern to the previous, in a more random manner

liv2restinboxThe vibrations are very strong on the LIV 2 – a pleasant surprise, and much more powerful than the original line. They’re fairly rumbly, and they feel damn good, whether you’re using LIV 2 on your clit or against your G-spot. The vibrations travel well throughout the shaft (not very much into the base, so your fingers don’t get numb), and they’re melodic sounding and pretty quiet – easily masked by background music or the TV.

LIV 2 also sports a lock mode, which makes it safe to travel with without worry. To turn the travel mode on or off, press on either the + and – or the up and down arrows simultaneously for about 3 seconds. The LED light will glow, and then turn off, letting you know LIV 2 is locked or unlocked.

Since the LIV 2 is waterproof, it’s easy to clean. Antibacterial soap and water work great, or you can use a toy cleaner or wipes, then dry off and store in the box or the bag. The silicone surface isn’t a lint magnet, which is wonderful! Water-based lubes are recommended, but you can use silicone if you desire (do a spot test first).

liv2inhand2So, Did It Work? I really love my LIV 2. It’s got a fantastic color that I wish more toys came in, and a sleek, clean look with just the right amount of curve to work for my G-spot. The silicone is smooth and slick, and I don’t need much lube at all to use this one. It’s a bit smaller than most of the vibrators I have, but that doesn’t detract from its orgasm-producing capability for me at all.

I love the amount of power LIV 2 has. It’s much stronger than my older Lelos, and the rumbly vibrations work well for me. The steady vibration on high is strong enough to give me a clitoral orgasm fairly easily, and I absolutely love the patterns when using it internally. Plus, I can take it in the tub, which is always a bonus.
