June is in full swing, with its hot days and even hotter nights. What better way to spend the evening than enjoying a loving touch? This month, I had the fun of reviewing the Lia Loving Touch massager for Cal Exotics, as part of their Sexpert program.
The Lia Loving Touch massager comes in a clear plastic box. The toy is visible through the front, while the sides and back feature some product information. Inside the box is the Lia and a small sheet which covers battery installation.
This vibrator comes in 3 colors; I received mine in purple, and the color of both the toy and the cap match. Lia is made of firm silicone for the head and shaft (the shaft is plastic underneath the silicone and houses the battery) with a smooth feel and very little drag, while the cap is ABS plastic with a PU cote. The décor ring that separates the two is made of ABS plastic with a shiny silver coating. Lia has one seam that runs up the front and back of the toy, over the head, but it’s filed down and only visibly noticeable on the head. It doesn’t add or detract to the sensations when it’s being used.
Lia is a small vibrator, at just 4 1/2″ long and 1 1/4″ at its widest diameter. The head is conical, with four evenly spaced raised rings around it for extra stimulation. This head is attached to the neck at about a 45 degree angle. It’s flexible, and it can be moved from side to side or straightened to some degree. The head is not separately attached to the neck and body – rather, it’s of the same piece of silicone, so there aren’t any hard to clean grooves where the head meets the neck, and there’s also no worry of the head detaching.
The battery compartment is accessed by turning Lia’s base about 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise. It’s powered by just 1 AA battery, which goes in + side first. An O-ring sits below the threads, making Lia waterproof and safe to play with in the shower or tub.
Lia is controlled by the single push button on the bottom of the base. The button is easy to press, and will cycle the vibrator through 10 settings:
- Low and steady
- Medium and steady
- Fluttering rev low to high
- Fast pulse
- Fast and stronger pulse
- Very fast pulse
- Slower, deeper pulse
- High, longer fast pulse
- Very low intensity pulse
- High steady
The button is surrounded by an LED light that flashes or glows to the pattern you’re on. The vibrations are fairly quiet – they get a bit louder on the higher vibrations and when less pressure is used. They’re fairly buzzy, and about as strong as you’d expect from a single AA powered vibrator: low to moderately powerful and comparable to a pocket rocket. The vibrations seem strongest right below the neck, but they can be felt decently in the head.
Lia can be turned off by pressing and holding the button for about 3 seconds.
One interesting thing about Lia is that, when you go to turn it on again after it’s been shut off, it powers up at the pattern after the one you shut it off on.
This vibrator is easy to clean with antibacterial soap and water both before and after use. You can also use toy wipes or your favorite toy cleaner. Water-based lubricants are safe to use. It’s best to remove the batteries when storing Lia, both to preserve battery life and keep Lia from accidentally turning on when not in use.
So, Did It Work? Lia is nice as a clit vibe – especially during foreplay. I like a lot of the patterns, and the vibration level is great for warmup. It’s also plenty powerful for me after I’ve cum a time or two – I’m a lot more sensitive then, and this has enough power to tip me over the edge again.
The handle makes it easy to hold on to and adjust, and the flexible neck lets me maneuver it easily. My husband also likes the handle – he finds this easier to use on me than trying to keep an egg or bullet on my clit. Lia works great in the tub too – I didn’t have any problems with water getting into the battery compartment.
The ridges don’t do much for me, except keep the head in place better than if the surface was totally smooth. I tried to use Lia internally, but it doesn’t work as a g-spot vibe, as the neck is too flexible, and the head isn’t the easiest to insert.
The one thing I don’t particularly care for is the pattern memory. Sometimes I find a pattern that I stick with throughout a session, and I hate that when I turn it off it starts up again on the next pattern. While the pattern resets to the first when you remove and replace the battery, if you turn it off and back on again while you’re still playing, you’ll have to cycle through.
