I have to admit it: what drew me to the Pirate Duckie was simply the way he looks. This has to be one of the cutest vibrators I’ve ever seen, and dressed up as a pirate? When offered the chance to review this from EdenFantasys, how could I resist!
The Pirate Duckie comes packaged in a cardboard box with a Jolly Roger flag on the front, and product information on the back. Inside is a large laminated square Treasure Chest. Lifting the hinged lid reveals Pirate Duckie nestled on a bed of red satin, looking adorable and spry.
This Duckie is part of the travel-sized line, so he’s not tremendously large. From chest to tail it’s just 3 1/4″ long, and only 2 1/2″ high. It’s nicely colored, and “dressed” in pirate coat, frilly shirt, and button bars and accents. It even has an eye patch over its right eye. Pirate Duckie wears a bandanna, but also has a removable black pirate hat and looks fetching either way. It’s firm to the touch, with the clothing and detailing providing some texture.
This is a discreet vibrator, in the sense that most people wouldn’t realize that this was a sex toy if it were decorating your bathroom shelf or tub ledge. It really doesn’t look like something to get off with. It’s discreet in looks only however – this is one loud duck!
Pirate Duckie is powered by 1 AAA battery. The battery compartment is located on its bottom, and closes securely to keep this toy waterproof. The compartment is easiest to open by inserting a dime or thin pair of scissors into the indentation and turning the dial until the cap can be removed. The battery goes in negative side first, and it’s held securely in place. It’s a bit tricky to remove, but if you tap Pirate Duckie firmly against your hand, the battery will come out.
While the Pirate Duckie is waterproof, unfortunately he doesn’t float. Well, he floats, but more on his side. The battery doesn’t provide enough weight for the duckie to float on his bottom around the tub. I had hoped to see him spinning his way through bubbles on his way to deliver some pleasure.
The dial that controls the vibrations is located next to the battery compartment on the bottom. It’s a bit tricky to turn, but loosens up a bit after several uses. The Pirate Duckie only has one speed. Turning the dial turns it on, and the vibrations are loud. Using this in water amplifies them, so you’ll want some background noise on to ensure some privacy. The vibrations are buzzy and somewhat strong, but not as strong as you’d expect from the sound. They can be felt all over the Duckie.
This toy is made of TPR, which is latex free, phthalates free, and hypoallergenic. It’s easy to clean with water and antibacterial soap. If necessary water-based or silicone lubricants can be used.
So, Does It Work? Yes and no. As a cute, discreet toy, most definitely. For getting me to orgasm, not quite. I like that the Pirate Duckie is firm so I can get the pressure I need, but the vibrations are just too weak to get me off easily. I don’t mind the one speed, but I would have preferred it be stronger.
This was fun to play around with in the tub as a foreplay toy, but the thing that disappointed my husband and I the most was that Pirate Duckie didn’t float upright through the water.
You might like the Pirate Duckie if you don’t want or need strong clitoral vibrations to orgasm, or you want to keep a toy in plain sight in the bathroom. And it is awfully cute. It would make a great addition to a collection of duckies.
I have a video of the Pirate Duckie in action over at EdenFantasys so do make sure to check it out!
