An Expedition With Calypso

I love clitoral vibrators, probably more than any other kind. Even if they don’t get me off quickly, I love the feelings and sensations they create on my clit. So I was happy to see the Calypso 2 was my review product this month as part of the Cal Exotics Sexperts program.

The Calypso 2 (and yes, there is a Calypso 1) is part of Cal Exotics Couture Collection. It comes in a shiny white cardboard box, with pictures of the product on the front and back, as well as other product information.

This is really a pretty toy, light and feminine. The oddly shaped “bullet” is 3 1/2″ long and about 1” wide at its widest point. The shape reminds me of a whale’s head. It’s made of silicone and is a lovely periwinkle color. The surface has a matte finish, with just a bit of drag as you run your finger down it. It also has some rippling on the surface. It’s not a squishy bullet, but rather firm with very little give.

There is a seam that is noticeable – it can be both seen and felt – running around this piece, but it isn’t noticeable during use. The rippling and ridges help the bullet fit nicely to your anatomy and nestle over your clit. The bullet is attached to the control by a 23” cord that is firmly implanted in the silicone.

The controller is made of ABS plastic, with a matte back and a shiny front. It’s cream, with a deeper periwinkle trim on the sides and graceful curling lines on the front. The two control buttons are set inside a tulip outline. The controller is curved on the bottom, making this easy and comfortable to hold.

The bottom button is a dedicated on/off button. The unit has to be turned on with this button before starting the vibrations and patterns with the button on the top. A red light glows behind the buttons, and the small red LED pulses or shines steadily depending on the pattern you are on.

The Calypso 2 features 7 settings:
– Low and steady vibration
– Medium and steady vibration
– High and steady vibration
– Revving pattern from low to high steady vibratons
– Pulses
– Faster pulses
– 3 short pulses followed by 1 long pulse

The vibrations are felt most strongly in the tip of the bullet, but do carry throughout its entire length. They are fairly buzzy but also a bit rumbly, especially on the pattern settings. While they aren’t the strongest vibrations I’ve ever felt, they are pleasurable and make this a good choice to use for a longer session. The Calypso 2 is pretty quiet, even on the highest setting.

The battery compartment is located on the back of the controller, and has a small tab at the base that must be pressed in to slide the compartment off. It can be a bit tricky to get it pressed in the first time, but once you figure it out it’s much easier. The Calypso 2 takes 2 AAA batteries, which are inserted + side down on the left, and + side up on the right. The lid should be pushed back on until it clicks into place. It fits snugly and won’t pop off, which helps make this waterproof, as befitting a toy with this name.

The Calypso 2 is easy to clean – just wash it with antibacterial soap and warm water and pat dry. Since it’s silicone, only water-based lubricants are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I liked the Calypso 2. The shape of the bullet was unique, and it fit me well during use. It was comfortable to wear inside of a pair of panties and stayed in place pretty well. It also was unobtrusive when using this bullet with my partner, and nestled out of the way without interfering between us.

The vibrations aren’t earth-shaking, but they are moderately strong, and I found this to be a good one for foreplay or longer masturbation settings. As I usually do, I liked the high and steady vibration pattern the best, but I also really liked the 3 short 1 long pattern.

This worked well in the bathtub as well. I didn’t have any trouble with water getting into the battery pack, and while the noise was a bit louder, it was still quite quiet.

Overall, this is a nice, uniquely shaped bullet vibrator, and a good choice if you want something feminine yet with a bit of power.

Go A Little Bit Dotty

Sometimes small vibrators are the way to go. They are easy to transport, often discreet, and can pack a punch where you need it. This month, as a Sexpert, I was excited to receive the Lil Teaser Dotty to review from Cal Exotics.

The Dotty comes in a small, clear plastic box with the product visible through the front. The back lists some of the toys features. Inside the box is the vibrator, a small instruction flyer, and 1 N battery so you can use Dotty right away.

This vibrator looks somewhat like a large tongue and is suitable for clitoral or vaginal use. It’s a lovely matte shade of lavender, with a darker purple base.

Dotty is 5” long overall, and can be inserted about 3” if you desire, and it ranges from about 5/8” wide at the tip to about 1” in diameter at the fullest part of its body. The difference in size between the body and the base isn’t enough to make Dotty safe for anal use unless you or your partner keeps a finger through the ring.

Dotty’s surface has a soft, velvety texture. No seam is visible anywhere. The top 1 1/4″ is extremely flexible, while the rest of the body is a little squishy, but firm and inflexible, since this is where the vibrating part is. The tip has two small nubs, or dots, under the curve.

The base consists of a cap with a ring. The ring has an opening of about 5/8”, which is large enough to slip your finger through to control Dotty during use. Twisting the base counterclockwise allows access to the battery compartment. Dotty uses 1 N battery, which is inserted + side down, and the battery direction is labeled inside the compartment. An O-ring sits at the bottom of the threads to make Dotty waterproof and safe to use in the shower or tub when the base is securely twisted closed.

Dotty doesn’t have an on/off button. Instead, twisting the base fully closed turns it on. Dotty only has 1 speed, a steady, moderate vibration. The vibration is strongest in the tip and the nubs, but can also be felt down the length of the toy.

Dotty is made of silicone, which is phthalates free and nonporous. It’s easy to clean with antibacterial soap and warm water, or you can use your favorite toy cleaner. Dotty should be patted dry, and stored with the battery removed. Only water-based lubricants should be used.

So, Does it Work? I like the design of this quite a bit, particularly the handle. I can slip my finger through and get greater control of Dotty without having to hold onto the vibrating body of the toy. The handle does transmit some vibration, but when gripped by my finger it’s barely noticeable.

I do wish Dotty had a few more vibration levels or was a bit more intense. For clitoral stimulation, the vibrations aren’t quite strong enough for me to orgasm, but they feel good and work well during foreplay to get me going. The nubs vibrate strongly, as does the tip, and I could get some good pinpoint stimulation with these.  I also wish Dotty used a regular sized battery instead of an N battery.  While the battery life is decent, a standard AAA is much easier to replace.

Internally, Dotty didn’t work for me. The tip is too flexible to get pressure on my g-spot, and without the g-spot stimulation it’s too thin and too short to realy work well for me.

The Dotty is waterproof, and I had no problems with any water getting in the battery compartment, either after a shower or a bath.  It’s also fairly quiet, so with the TV or some music on, no one knew I was using it.

If you’re looking for a smaller vibe with moderate vibrations for clitoral use and don’t need vibration patterns, give Dotty a try! It may be just what you’re looking for.

I’d like to thank Cal Exotics for sending this to me for free to review! If you’d like to give Dotty a try, you can get yours at EdenFantasys by clicking the widget below.

Bump, Bump, For My Love

I’ve been exploring a lot of rabbit vibrators recently. Some fit me well but don’t have the power, while others didn’t fit me well at all but are super strong. Some were smooth, while others had texture to spare. At times I feel a bit like Goldilocks, looking for the one that’s just right. My Cal Exotics Sexpert product for June turned out to be another rabbit, one I had high hopes for being the right one: the somewhat intimidating looking Power Bumper.

This rabbit vibrator comes in a large box with the toy visible through the front window and product information on the back. Even in the box the Bumper looks intriguing with its coloring and nubs. It has a very light, almost unnoticeable smell right out of the box.

The Power Bumper is a two-tone pink in color. The shaft and clitoral stimulator are a hot pink which is translucent, while the base is a more subdued carnation color. This is a good sized rabbit at 10” long and 5 1/4″ insertable. The shaft has a 1 1/2″ diameter, although it looks larger due to the texturing.

The texture on the Power Bumper is amazing. The TPR sleeve that covers the innards is composed of hundreds of tiny nubs all over. The entire shaft, the clitoral bunny (even his ears), everything except the base is nubbed. The nubs (and indeed the sleeve) are soft and squishy, and lightly tacky to the touch. They are flexible and not rigid to make insertion easier and stimulation comfortable and not painful. While the nubby sleeve that covers the vibrator is loose, it is firmly attached to the base.

The clitoral stimulator is in the shape of a rabbit with long ears. The rabbit extends 2 1/2″ out from the body when measured from the top attachment to the shaft. The bullet is incased in the rabbit’s body.

Inside the shaft the head and beads are visible. The head piece rests atop the beaded section and can be lifted up a bit. The head is somewhat flexible. The beaded section consists of 4 rows of 3 beads that are spaced around their tracks.

The Power Bumper runs on 4 AA batteries, which are inserted by turning the bottom of the base slightly to the left. The battery direction is clearly labeled by diagrams inside the base. An O-ring sits between the base and the cap to make this vibrator safe to use in the shower or bath (although it’s far easier to manipulate in a bathtub).

The black control buttons are located on the bottom of the base. Two buttons control the clitoral vibrator, while the other two control the rotation. The two buttons on the left are, from top to bottom, Vibro and Hi/Lo. Vibro turns the clitoral stimulator on and off, while Hi/Lo cycles between high and low speed. The bullet’s low speed is more what I’d call medium, while the high is fairly strong.

The right buttons from top to bottom are labeled Spin and Rev. Spin starts and stops the shaft rotation, while Rev reverses the direction. The shaft only rotates at one speed, which is moderate, regardless of which direction it rotates in.

This isn’t a super quiet toy, but it isn’t terribly loud when inserted, either. As long as you’ve got some background music on, no one will know you’re using it.

The Power Bumper is made of TPR, which is hypoallergenic and phthalates free. It is semi-porous, so use a condom if you’re planning to share. This vibrator should be cleaned both before and after use by washing with antibacterial soap and warm water or you favorite toy cleaner and patted dry. Because it’s squishy, it isn’t hard to clean, even with the nubs covering the entire surface. The Power Bumper should be stored away from other toys, ideally in its box or a protective bag. Both silicone and water-based lubes are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I liked the texture on this one – the nubs felt good, although I did have to use a lot of lube to get it in comfortably. The nubs made the Power Bumper feel a lot bigger in diameter than it would have if smooth. When the shaft was rotating they did provide some friction and stimulation since the sleeve is loose over the beads, and they also were stimulating when I thrust. I liked the nubs on the bunny as well, as they seemed to diffuse the vibration into multiple stimulation points.

The shaft rotation was decent, and I didn’t have any problems with the beads jamming. The bullet was moderately strong, and I liked that since it only had 2 speeds that it wasn’t super low on low. I would have liked the bullet to be located a bit farther down the bunny, however, so it hit my clit better. This is a problem I have with a lot of rabbits, where the most intense vibrations aren’t quite where I’d like them to be.  I wasn’t quite able to orgasm with this rabbit, but it worked well to get me close.

I didn’t find the buttons hard to use, and I actually liked their location on the bottom. It only took me a few tries to figure out what did what when I had it inserted, and since I tend to hold onto the base and not the bottom when using toys like this I didn’t hit them on accident.

This was fun to use in the tub as well. The water amplified the sound and it was louder than when I used it in my bedroom, but behind a closed door with the radio on it couldn’t be heard from the other side.

I’d like to thank Cal Exotics for sending this to me for free to review as part of their Sexpert program! If you’d like to try the Power Bumper for yourself, you can pick this one up at EdenFantasys by clicking on the widget below.

Create a Little Symphony

Massager style vibrators can be great. Not only do they work well on your back and shoulders, they often also make good clitoral stimulators. I recently received the Symphony Massager from Cal Exotics to review as part of their Sexperts program, which I was happy to review.

The Symphony comes in a clear, easy to open plastic box, with the massager visible from the front and product information all over the box. There’s even a small chart on the front that lists the vibration patterns, as well as an idea of what their pattern is. Inside the box is the vibrator and a small piece of paper with a 3 step diagram for how to remove the battery compartment, insert the batteries, and replace it.

The Symphony I received is a soft, pretty lavender in color. It’s made of plastic and covered with velvet cote, which is smooth but not slippery and has some drag to the surface. The shape reminds me of an ergonomic remote control with a bit more bend to it. The Symphony is easy to hold, and has a thumb depression in the top. A seam runs around the sides, but doesn’t affect the use.

This vibrator is 8” long when measured along the top curve and 7 3/4″ when measured along the bottom curve. It’s about 4 3/4″ around on the head and narrows to 3” at its narrowest on the neck.

The base on the Symphony is hard to turn, but that’s what helps keep it waterproof. Turning it 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pulling will pop the base off. On the bottom small raised lock and unlock symbols will help you determine which way to turn it if you forget.

This vibrator takes 2 AAA batteries. While the slip of paper shows the battery direction, unfortunately this isn’t labeled anywhere in the battery compartment itself. A small O-ring sits at the bottom of the thread.

The power button is set into silver. Unfortunately, there isn’t a dedicated on/off button- you’ll have to cycle through all the patterns to turn it off. When the Symphony is turned on, it provides five patterns of vibration:

– moderate vibration
– intense vibration
– tango pattern: 2 short pulses followed by 1 long pulse
– quickstop pattern: med pulse
– samba pattern: low, high freq pulse followed by a high longer pulse. Sounds musical

The vibrations are moderate and more throbby than buzzy, which makes this great for so many uses. The Symphony is a bit loud, but with some background music on it’s likely that no one will hear it.

The ergonomic shape of the Symphony also makes this ideal for self upper back massage, as well as partner massage. Since it’s waterproof it’s great to use in the shower or bath as well as in bed. The vibrations are also very loud – louder than I would have expected.

The Symphony is easy to clean. Simply wash with warm water and an antibacterial soap and dry with a soft cloth. You can also clean this with your favorite toy cleaner.

So, Does It Work? I really liked the shape of the Symphony. It was easy and comfortable to hold no matter where on my body I was using it. While the vibrations weren’t strong enough for me when using this clitorally to take me to orgasm, they were pleasant for foreplay.

My husband and I enjoyed using this as a back massager as well. Since the vibrations are throbby it really felt good on my back and shoulders, and we had fun using it in the shower as well.

If you’re looking for a massager style vibrator with low to moderate throbby vibrations, the Symphony is a good one to look at.  Thank you to Cal Exotics for sending this to me for free to review!

Fun In Public? Oh, Yes!

Wireless toys have been my thing lately. There’s something about getting off in public that’s quite a turn-on. This is apparently my month for reviewing them, and I was pretty excited to receive the 7 Function Remote Bullet from Cal Exotics for my Sexpert review.

This bullet vibrator comes in an easy to open box, with an actual size picture of the product on the front, as well as a nice looking couple. The back of the box points out some of the features of both the bullet and remote, as well as other product information. Inside of the box is the bullet, remote control, 1 12v battery, 8 watch batteries (4 are needed at a time), and a small instruction sheet that gives the battery orientation.

Both the remote and bullet are a pretty vibrant purple, and both are made of plastic with a velvet cote covering, so they’re soft to the touch and have no smell or taste. Both pieces are non-porous and phthalates free.

The bullet is 3” long, with a 1 1/4″ diameter. It’s meant to be inserted vaginally (never insert this anally!), and it has a 3 3/4″ retrieval cord that feels plastic coated attached at the bottom for easy removal. It has a noticeable seam running around the middle where the two pieces screw together, but it can’t be felt during use. It also has a Cal Ex sticker, which leaves some residue when removed, although it’s simple enough to get off.

The halves are easy to unscrew, and the battery compartment holds 4 watch batteries, which must be inserted + side down (the flat side of the batteries). The batteries do come held in plastic in 2 groups of four – make sure you remove the plastic or you’ll have a hard time removing them from the bullet! They can be a bit tricky to insert as well. A rubber O-ring sits at the bottom of the thread, making this bullet waterproof.

The remote is small and flat. It’s 2 1/2″ long, 1 1/2″ wide, and about 3/8” thick. It has a hole at the top where it can be attached to a keychain if desired. It also has a telescopic antenna which extends to 2 3/4″.

The remote holds 1 12v battery, which is inserted by sliding the battery compartment off. The battery is held securely, and the battery door, once replaced, won’t come off unexpectedly.

The front of the remote has four buttons: a dedicated on/off button, 7 function F button, and 2 buttons to control the speed, labeled + and -. A small LED light is next to the speed buttons, and flashes red when any of the buttons is pressed. It doesn’t stay lit, so you can’t use it to tell if the bullet is on or off, or what mode it is in. You’ll have to rely on your partner to tell you. While the bullet is waterproof, the remote is not . Make sure not to submerge this in water!

The bullet has 7 speeds and 7 functions. When turned on, the bullet starts in a low steady vibration. Pressing + increases the power to maximum (about 5 presses). Pressing the F button at this point does the following:
– increase in power about 5 seconds, back to slightly lower for 5 seconds, repeats
– “shaker” pattern from high to low
– medium pulses
– fast pulses
– medium pulses that gradually get longer and less intense, then a few revs before repeating
– 2 short and 1 long pulse
– low and steady vibration

The bullet is pretty quiet when inserted, and won’t be heard if there’s any kind of background noise. This is great to use at a bar or noisy restaurant, if you can handle the vibrations. The high speeds can get a bit intense if the bullet runs for a while.

The bullet should be washed before and after each use with an antibacterial soap and water, or your favorite toy cleaner. The remote should be wiped off, if necessary, with a damp cloth. Both pieces should be dried off with a soft towel. Water-based and silicone lubricants are safe to use with the bullet.

So, Does It Work? For the most part, yes. It’s definitely quiet enough to wear in public, and we were able to control the bullet from about 20 – 25 feet away. It certainly made grocery shopping more entertaining! I found the 2 short and 1 long pulse to be my favorite setting – it certainly didn’t let me forget I had it in!

We did have some trouble with the bullet stopping when cycling through the patterns. This occurred more on the lower speeds, although it would happen on the higher speeds as well, when he was consciously pushing the buttons.  The LED doesn’t stay lit, so your partner will have to ask you if it’s on and what pattern it’s on.

My husband kept this in his pocket, and didn’t have any problems with hitting the buttons by mistake when he had loose pockets, but it did change pattern or shut off when he was wearing tight jeans. He has the same problem with his cell phone in tight pockets as well, so for us looser pockets are a better choice. He would have liked to put this on a keychain, but he balked at the purple color. It attached fine to my keychain, and with all the other things on there I didn’t find it to stand out or be too noticeable.

My biggest issue with this bullet is the way it drains batteries. I was happy that 8 were included, because after only using the bullet for about 30 minutes (during which it performed admirably), coming home, and removing the batteries for storage, the batteries were dead when I went to use them again. The same happened with the other 4 batteries. I’m not sure if it had to due with the batteries not being the freshest, or if the bullet just eats them.

Overall, we had a lot of fun with this one. Thank you to Cal Exotics for sending me this for free to review!
