Wireless toys have been my thing lately. There’s something about getting off in public that’s quite a turn-on. This is apparently my month for reviewing them, and I was pretty excited to receive the 7 Function Remote Bullet from Cal Exotics for my Sexpert review.
This bullet vibrator comes in an easy to open box, with an actual size picture of the product on the front, as well as a nice looking couple. The back of the box points out some of the features of both the bullet and remote, as well as other product information. Inside of the box is the bullet, remote control, 1 12v battery, 8 watch batteries (4 are needed at a time), and a small instruction sheet that gives the battery orientation.
Both the remote and bullet are a pretty vibrant purple, and both are made of plastic with a velvet cote covering, so they’re soft to the touch and have no smell or taste. Both pieces are non-porous and phthalates free.
The bullet is 3” long, with a 1 1/4″ diameter. It’s meant to be inserted vaginally (never insert this anally!), and it has a 3 3/4″ retrieval cord that feels plastic coated attached at the bottom for easy removal. It has a noticeable seam running around the middle where the two pieces screw together, but it can’t be felt during use. It also has a Cal Ex sticker, which leaves some residue when removed, although it’s simple enough to get off.
The halves are easy to unscrew, and the battery compartment holds 4 watch batteries, which must be inserted + side down (the flat side of the batteries). The batteries do come held in plastic in 2 groups of four – make sure you remove the plastic or you’ll have a hard time removing them from the bullet! They can be a bit tricky to insert as well. A rubber O-ring sits at the bottom of the thread, making this bullet waterproof.
The remote is small and flat. It’s 2 1/2″ long, 1 1/2″ wide, and about 3/8” thick. It has a hole at the top where it can be attached to a keychain if desired. It also has a telescopic antenna which extends to 2 3/4″.
The remote holds 1 12v battery, which is inserted by sliding the battery compartment off. The battery is held securely, and the battery door, once replaced, won’t come off unexpectedly.
The front of the remote has four buttons: a dedicated on/off button, 7 function F button, and 2 buttons to control the speed, labeled + and -. A small LED light is next to the speed buttons, and flashes red when any of the buttons is pressed. It doesn’t stay lit, so you can’t use it to tell if the bullet is on or off, or what mode it is in. You’ll have to rely on your partner to tell you. While the bullet is waterproof, the remote is not . Make sure not to submerge this in water!
The bullet has 7 speeds and 7 functions. When turned on, the bullet starts in a low steady vibration. Pressing + increases the power to maximum (about 5 presses). Pressing the F button at this point does the following:
– increase in power about 5 seconds, back to slightly lower for 5 seconds, repeats
– “shaker” pattern from high to low
– medium pulses
– fast pulses
– medium pulses that gradually get longer and less intense, then a few revs before repeating
– 2 short and 1 long pulse
– low and steady vibration
The bullet is pretty quiet when inserted, and won’t be heard if there’s any kind of background noise. This is great to use at a bar or noisy restaurant, if you can handle the vibrations. The high speeds can get a bit intense if the bullet runs for a while.
The bullet should be washed before and after each use with an antibacterial soap and water, or your favorite toy cleaner. The remote should be wiped off, if necessary, with a damp cloth. Both pieces should be dried off with a soft towel. Water-based and silicone lubricants are safe to use with the bullet.
So, Does It Work? For the most part, yes. It’s definitely quiet enough to wear in public, and we were able to control the bullet from about 20 – 25 feet away. It certainly made grocery shopping more entertaining! I found the 2 short and 1 long pulse to be my favorite setting – it certainly didn’t let me forget I had it in!
We did have some trouble with the bullet stopping when cycling through the patterns. This occurred more on the lower speeds, although it would happen on the higher speeds as well, when he was consciously pushing the buttons. The LED doesn’t stay lit, so your partner will have to ask you if it’s on and what pattern it’s on.
My husband kept this in his pocket, and didn’t have any problems with hitting the buttons by mistake when he had loose pockets, but it did change pattern or shut off when he was wearing tight jeans. He has the same problem with his cell phone in tight pockets as well, so for us looser pockets are a better choice. He would have liked to put this on a keychain, but he balked at the purple color. It attached fine to my keychain, and with all the other things on there I didn’t find it to stand out or be too noticeable.
My biggest issue with this bullet is the way it drains batteries. I was happy that 8 were included, because after only using the bullet for about 30 minutes (during which it performed admirably), coming home, and removing the batteries for storage, the batteries were dead when I went to use them again. The same happened with the other 4 batteries. I’m not sure if it had to due with the batteries not being the freshest, or if the bullet just eats them.
Overall, we had a lot of fun with this one. Thank you to Cal Exotics for sending me this for free to review!
