Embrace (and Control) Your Lover

A new year is here, and with it comes new reviews for Cal Exotics products! I have a few rechargeable silicone Cal Exotics toys which I love, particularly those that have a remote control – there’s something about being out in public at a bar or dinner and getting turned on that I find exciting (it’s even exciting at home before we really begin to play). This month, I was thrilled to receive the Embrace Lover’s Remote for free as part of the Cal Exotics’ Sexpert program, in exchange for this unbiased review.

embracebox

The Lover’s Remote comes in a black box inside a slipcover. It’s available in grey, purple, and pink silicone: I received mine in purple. The front of the slipcover simply states what the product is, while the back shows a picture of the product and has general information. Inside the sturdy box, the remote and controller rest in a foam tray. Underneath the tray are an instruction sheet, a conformity paper with general instructions, and sheet and a USB charging cord.

embraceinbox

embraceinhandThe stimulator is about 3 1/4″ long, and 1 1/4″ wide at it’s widest. It’s shaped sort of like a bell, with a smooth, round head (the head is wider than the rest of the insertable portion. The lower end of the stimulator has a silver-plated ABS ring, and the retrieval cord is a continuation of the silicone – it’s not a separate piece. The cord is 3 3/4″ long, and the end has a silver plated circle which the silicone wraps around. The cord is flexible a little stretchy, and makes it easy to retrieve the stimulator when it’s inserted.

embraceremoteThe remote is about 3” long and 1 1/2″ wide. It has a leaf-life shape, and the way it is contoured makes it both easy and comfortable to hold, as well as simple to position if used as an external stimulator. It can be used independently from, and also in conjunction with, the stimulator. It has two buttons: a power button and a function button.

embchargingThe Lover’s Remote charges via a USB cord, which can either be plugged into your computer or a wall adapter. The cord is unusual, and pretty cool, in that both the controller and stimulator can be plugged in at the same time. When charging, the button area of the remote flashes with a purple light, and the stimulator has a small light on its face that also flashes. When charged, the lights glow steady. The jacks plug into small circles on each part of the toy.

This toy comes partially charged from the factory, and should be fully charged before use (a full charge takes about 90 minutes, but the initial charge will take less than that).  Once charged, the remote will run for 90 minutes on high and 2 hours on low.

embracechargingThe stimulator has a small button above its silver band. Pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds will turn on the stimulator, and you’ll know it’s on because the small light will flash. It doesn’t start to vibrate yet, though. You’ll need to press and hold the remote’s power button for three seconds as well. The remote will turn on, and start vibrating on low power. The stimulator will as well.  Pressing the function button will cycle both pieces through the 7 vibrations and patterns together. Will you want both pieces to vibrate? Maybe – your partner can tease themself or you with the contoured remote piece, but they may just want to control the stimulator inside you and not vibrate their hand.

A cool feature of the Lover’s Remote: if you only want the stimulator to vibrate, you can press and hold the remote’s function button for 3 seconds. This will stop the remote from vibrating, but the stimulator will continue to vibrate. The remote will still change the vibration setting of the stimulator, but now the remote is more discreet.  You can also just have the remote vibrate – simply press the stimulator’s button for 3 seconds to turn it off, and then the remote is on its own.

embraceremotesideThe vibrations in the remote are fairly strong, and very buzzy. They’re also a bit loud. When the stimulator is inserted, its vibrations are muffled.  These vibrations are also fairly strong, and a bit less buzzy than the remote’s.

The stimulator is waterproof, and easy to clean with warm water and mild soap. The controller is splashproof, so if you’re just using it as a remote, a wipedown with a wet cloth and soap is fine. A bleach solution or toy cleaner can also be used to clean both parts.  The Lover’s Remote can be stored in the box, along with its cord, or you could use a toy bag or storage pouch if desired (a storage pouch is not included). Water-based lube is recommended.

So, Did It Work? The charger for this is pretty cool – I like that both pieces can be charged at the same time, and not one after another.  Being USB is also useful, although I do usually charge this in a USB wall adapter.

embinhandflexI do love remote controlled toys for playing in public (as well as at home), and they’re one of those toys that I don’t need to have mega-power, as for me they’re more to tease and arouse me from the inside – they shouldn’t make me have quivering orgasms on the floor at the bar. The vibration strength for both the controller and the stimulator were strong enough for me to feel, and get quite turned on by, and I could handle the vibrations for quite a while before begging to have them turned off.

Using the controller as a vibrating panty insert was interesting. The contour fit me fine, but I had to pull it out and press the button to change settings or turn it off. It was also louder than I’d wear out – although it was fine to use as teasing foreplay at home.  It worked well as an all-over tease, and my partner enjoyed having me use it on his balls, although overall he liked just using it as a remote to control me, and keeping its vibrations off.

The remote control of the stimulator was a bit hit or miss. My partner could control it from about 15 or so feet away, but it had to be pointed at me. And not just to change the pattern, but to keep the stimulator going. When the remote was pointed away, the stimulator would stop vibrating, and then it would start up again when the remote was pointed in the right direction. I’d rather it kept vibrating whether or not he had the remote pointed at me, and that he’d just need to point it to change the setting.

Overall, the Lover’s Embrace is fun, but it works best in a home setting or where you can make sure your partner is able to point the remote towards you to keep the stimulator going strong.

All Hogtied Up

The New Year is almost here, and as I mentioned in a previous post, what better way to make it festive than with some functional and lovely bondage gear? Cal Exotics’ new Scandal line has a variety of items to mix and match for a sexy, coordinating bondage play time. I love being restrained, and I do love being hogtied. This month, as part of the Cal Exotics’ Sexpert program, I was fortunate to also receive the Scandal Hogtie set for free to review in exchange for an unbiased review.

hogtieboxThe Scandal Hogtie set from Cal Exotics comes in a large cardboard box, with a woman restrained with the set on both the front and back of the box. The fabric pattern is shown on both the bottom and on the inside of the box. Inside are four matching cuffs and the hogtie piece, sealed in plastic.

hogtieoutofthepackageThe four polyester cuffs are identically sized. Each cuff is 2” wide and 10” long. The underside of cuff is covered with plush black fabric, which won’t irritate your skin, while the top of the cuff has a pretty red and black lace-design fabric. These cuffs close with Velcro, and a 1” wide strip is sewn down the middle of the cuff front. About 7” of the Velcro is rough, and the smooth Velcro extends 6” off the cuff. This makes the cuff very adjustable, and it should fit most wrists and ankles. If you have small wrists or ankles, the cuff will overlap; if they’re larger, you may have a section of skin that’s only covered by the Velcro strip and not the cuff itself. Each cuff has a black metal O-ring secured to it in the center, and this has a swivel-clip attached. The swivel clips can be used to attach each cuff to the hogtie, as well as to each other or any other ring or apparatus (like a spreader bar).

hogtiesetThe hogtie piece is black, with a large O-ring in the center, and four smaller O-rings connected to the center ring by 1” wide black material. The material is securely fastened together by rivets, so it won’t break or tear during use. All of the metal is nickel-free iron (the O-rings and the rivets) or a nickel-free alloy (the clasps).

The cuffs are easy to connect to the hogtie piece, and are also easy to remove.

This is an easy to care for set. The cuffs and hogtie can be spot cleaned, or they can be washed in a lingerie bag and hung dry. The set doesn’t take up a lot of space, so you can store it in a small bag, or even just in a drawer. The box is too large to store the set in, but it can be recycled.

cuffonwristSo, Did It Work? This hogtie set is a lot of fun – provided, of course, you like to be hogtied (which I do). The cuffs are comfortable and easy to adjust, and we had no problems connecting them to, or removing them from, the central hogtie piece. Everything seems sturdy, and it was as comfortable as it could be when in the position of me on my stomach. It is possible to also clip the cuffs to the pieces when you’re on your knees, although for me this position is a bit harder to hold. I like that the cuffs completely detach from the hogtie piece as well: they can be attached to each other, a spreader bar, a leash, or other rings as the mood strikes.

Thank you to Cal Exotics for sending me the Scandal Hogtie set for free to review as part of their Sexpert program! The Scandal line has several coordinating pieces, including an under the bed restraint set, collar and leash, blindfold, ball gag, paddle, harnesses and a spreader bar for sexy fun in red and black. Where Will It Lead You?

The New Year is almost here, and what better way to make it festive than with some lovely, yet functional bondage gear? The Scandal line has a variety of matching items so you can pick what interests you most. As part of the Cal Exotics’ Sexpert program, this month I received for free the Scandal Collar With Leash, in exchange for this unbiased review.

collarandleashboxThe Scandal Collar With Leash comes in a large cardboard box. The front shows a woman wearing the collar, while the back depicts a man wearing the item.  Like the other items in the Scandal line, the red and black pattern of the collar and leash handle is shown on the front and inside of the box.  In the box are the collar and leash, enclosed in a plastic bag.

The collar is black faux leather, or leatherette, on the inside, and is covered with a red and black lace, polyester material on the top. The front and back are stitched together well. The collar is 17 ½” long, and is 1 ½” wide, which I find to be a nice width. On the front is a large, black O-ring that’s secured to the front to a black metal post.  Unlike the cuffs in some of the other Scandal sets, the collar is a buckling collar, and the buckling strap has 6 holes for adjustability – the collar can be adjusted down to about 13” and up to 19”.  The buckling pieces are attached by rivets that go all the way through the collar to the underside. They’re fairly flush with the material and aren’t uncomfortable on the neck. The collar is fairly flexible, and can be worked some by bending it back and forth, to make it more comfortable when worn.

collarandleashThe leash is about 32” long overall. The handle is 8” long, and has black leatherette on the inside and the red and black lace material on the outside. This handle is attached to a black D-ring and secured with rivets. The black chain on the leash is 22” long and the links are ¾” wide. It’s sturdy, and heavy, chain. On the other end of the leash is an easy-to-open clasp that can be attached to the collar

All of the metal is either nickel-free iron (the chain, D-ring, and rivets) or a nickel-free alloy (the clasp and buckle).

The collar and leash are easy to care for. If necessary, the collar and leash handle can be spot cleaned with a damp washcloth and dried. The chain can be wiped off and dried as well. The collar and leash can be stored in a very small space inside a drawer or bag – I’d recommend recycling the box, as it’s very large.

collaronSo, Did It Work? I love the color combination in this line, and I like this collar and leash set. I had expected the collar to be a Velcro closure, since the cuffs in the pieces I have are, but I’m happy that it has a buckle closure.  There’s just something about having a collar buckled on that’s a turn-on in and of itself. It’s also comfortable to wear during our play sessions. I also like that it has a large O-ring in front – it’s easy to attach the leash to, and it’s also big enough for my partner to hook his finger through if he wants to pull me that way.

The leash that this comes with is also nice. Unlike many leashes that I have, this one is heavy, and there’s no doubt when it’s attached to the collar. It’s sturdy and won’t break, and the links don’t seem like they’ll tangle. Having the handle covered in matching fabric is also a plus – it really gives the set a complete look, and it looks hot with the matching cuffs and some black or red lingerie.

With a Revel Yell, You’ll Cry “More, more, more…”

I really love clitoral vibes, probably more than internal vibes. Of course, an internal and external at the same time are optimal, but if I can only have one, clitoral it is. I’d been looking at the Revel Body for some time, and was thrilled that SheVibe and Revel Body sent me one for free to review, along with all four attachments, in exchange for an unbiased review.

bodyallboxesThe Revel Body comes in a nice box that can be used for storage.  Inside the box are the unit, one attachment (or insert), a charging base, USB wall adapter, and usage manual, which notes the one year warranty against manufacturer defects. Each additional attachment comes in a nice box as well – the box base is slightly magnetized to hold them in place.

bodyandallattachmentsThis is an unusual toy, in that it’s a Sonic vibrator and contains magnets. And these aren’t just magnets – they’re very, very strong. The magnets hold the inserts inside the core, and there’s no chance they’ll come out on accident! Quite a few warnings about the magnets are included in the instruction manual, including that they shouldn’t be handled or used by anyone with a pacemaker, metallic bodybaseimplant, electromagnetic implants, or near body piercings. They’re also strong enough to harm magnetic media, so they shouldn’t go anywhere near your computer, credit card, hard drives, or your cell phones.  So see that USB wall adapter that the Revel Body comes with? Use it – I wouldn’t suggest plugging it into your computer.

The five attachments, or inserts, whichever you want to call them, all have a silver body with a fuschia tip and fit easily into the main unit. They should always be

inserted into the side that doesn’t have the light ring or buttons, and removed by pushing the small flat end firmly with your finger until you can grasp the pink side under its head to pull it out.

Each attachment is about 1” in diameter at the point they fit into the base. The attachment that the Revel Body comes with has a rounded top, and is pretty flush with the surface.  The Fawn top is flat and covered with soft and flexible 1/2″ long nubs. The Ever top is a disc with evenly spaced concentric circles and a dip in the center. The Cona looks like a lampshade and has a 1/2″ diameter opening on the top. Lastly, the Niko looks like Cona, but has a closed, rounded top.

bodychargeportThe Body may come charged – Revel recommends charging before the first use. When seated in the charging base correctly, the light around the opening will glow. A full charge time is about 90 minutes, and it takes about twice as long to charge as the unit has been used. So, if you used it for 15 minutes and charge it, it should be done in about ½ hour. The Body can’t be overcharged, so you can leave it in the charger, and it can hold a full charge for up to a year. If you don’t use it for a month or more, charge it fully before use. The light around the opening will go out once the Body is fully charged, and when it’s turned on, the light will flash: 3 flashes mean it’s fully charged, 2 mean it’s at a 50% charge, and 1 means it’s down to about 25% charged.

bodylightedThis is pretty simple to operate. The Revel Body has 3 buttons: +, -, and On/Off (the center button). Pressing the On/Off button will turn it on and cause the core to vibrate – holding it for 2 seconds will turn it off. The + button increases the speed of vibrations, while the – decreases it. You can press and hold the buttons to move rapidly up and down the 10 speeds. Tapping the On/Off button will change the Body from low power (with dimly glowing light) to high power (brightly glowing light). The Body will keep the settings, both for speed and power, from its last use.

bodynoinsertThe Revel Body works best if you hold it loosely against the area you’re stimulating – pressing hard dampens the vibrations.  It can be used over panties, and can also be used in a condom for sharing purposes. It’s pretty quiet, but if it seems noisy or rattles, the core can be lubed with water-based lubricant or petroleum jelly, or it can be briefly held under running water: the water will also help dampen the sound.

It’s pretty easy to clean: turn it off, remove the core, and wash both the core and unit separately with soap and warm water, toy cleaner, or alcohol, rinse, and dry off. The core can be reinserted, and the contacts on the unit should be completely dry before placing it on the recharging station. The inside of the unit, where the core is inserted, should be wiped clean to make sure no metal particles are adhering to it. The pieces should not be put in the dishwasher or boiled. The Body can be stored in its storage box, or in a storage bag, and should be stored out of sunlight.

bodyoriginalinsertThe Revel Body has one of the longest safeguard and warning sections I think I’ve ever seen with a toy. Some of the warnings are standard or not unusual: use only externally; let it adapt to new conditions if traveling before using and check for water or condensation; don’t keep it in the sun;  don’t use it if it’s broken; don’t use under blankets that can cause overheating; don’t touch charging contacts to any part of the body; don’t get the base near water or wet. Some other warnings worth noting: don’t use it on loose skin, skin with medicated lotion on it, or on eyes, eyelids, bones, soft tissue, broken skin, near the base of the skull or on the upper neck, or on calf pain; don’t use more than 15 minutes on any area of the body; don’t use extremely hot or cold water.

So, Did It Work? I will admit some of the warnings surprised me, and the 15 minutes of use one was probably one of my biggest concerns (I was intending to use this pretty much one place only – clitorally, and I don’t have implants or piercings, other than my ears to worry about, but I have been known to have very long, intimate, happy sessions with my vibrators).  Knowing not to use it more than 15 minutes in one spot is fine, but the instructions don’t tell you how long you have to wait before going back to that spot, or what exactly will happen if you go over the time limit.  I did try it in a few other places as well, with different power results.

The magnets are incredibly strong. The core isn’t the easiest thing to get out of the unit – it’s not hard, but you do have to give it a firm push, as it wants to stay seated inside. This is a good thing, as you know the core won’t be coming out during use. When I went to clean it before using it the first time, I removed the core, and when I went to rinse it off, it attached itself with a clink to the wall of my sink!  I’ll definitely be heeding the warnings about getting any part of this near my computer, phone, or purse, and glad they included the USB wall adapter, as that’s how I’ll be charging it.

So, on to using the Revel Body. When I first turned it on, it gave me the three flashing lights, so I knew it was fully charged.  Before using it anywhere else, I wanted to use it clitorally, so I settled down with some porn and gave it a go, starting with the tip that came with the unit.  It’s certainly easy to hold, and comfortable enough in my hand – just the right size for me.  It’s also very quiet, although a bit louder on low settings.

My biggest revelation was that I much preferred this on the lower levels than the high ones (either low power, or high power), whereas normally I’m all about turning something on high and going to town. The sensation was far more rumbly and stimulating to me. On the higher levels, all of the wonderful rumbliness went away. I could feel it, but it didn’t do anything for me. On low, though – very nice. It did work better when I didn’t put

Cona Attachment

much pressure on my clit – on low levels, the sensations changed and weren’t as stimulating with pressure as they were without, while on the higher settings it didn’t make too much of a difference. I tried out all four attachments, and clitorally I enjoyed the Fawn and Niko the best. The Fawn’s nubs felt fantastic, and the Niko was the most pinpoint for me. It was also hard to not apply a lot of pressure with this one, but both of them got me off.

My partner tried this out on my nipples, where I liked the vibrations on a higher level – the rumbly was gone, but the feel of the vibrations was nice, particularly when using the Ever or the original attachment. My partner liked the way the Cona felt – his nipples are much smaller than mine, and he liked the way it cupped around them. He liked the moderate to high levels of vibration for this.

Niko Attachment

Niko Attachment

Lastly, we tried back massage. Again, I liked the vibrations on a higher level. It felt wonderfully relaxing. My partner liked all the levels, especially when I’d start on low and go up to high as the massage progressed.  Both of us preferred the original attachment as well as the Ever for this use.

While I’ll use this more clitorally, I do see us using this for massage and foreplay quite a bit, and I’m glad we have the different attachments for the different uses.  It’ll be one I travel with as well, although it won’t be going in my purse. This is a pricey toy, so being able to use it in a variety of ways is a big plus. Will you like this? Maybe – it depends on the type of vibrations you like, as well as the type of surface you like and how much pressure you need to use.

Create a Scandal

October’s winding up, with just Halloween left! Red and black abound, whether on devils and grim reapers trick-or-treating down the street, or spicing up hot lingerie and bedroom accessories. It’s one of my favorite sexy color combinations, sparking heat and passion whether in the bedroom or out on the town. This month, as part of Cal Exotics’ Sexpert program, I received the Scandal Bed Restraints, which fit into the month’s color scheme, for free in exchange for this unbiased review.

scandal boxThe Scandal Bed Restraints come in a large cardboard box, and they’re shown being worn on both the front and back. The back of the box has information on the restraints. On the bottom of the box, as well as the inside, the red and black pattern of the cuffs is shown. Inside the box, all pieces are sealed in a plastic bag: four cuffs that can be used for wrists/ankles, 4 adjustable tethers, and an extension piece for oversized beds. Along with all this, you get a small paper showing the proper setup of the restraints.

scarletintheboxThe four included cuffs are identical. Each cuff is 2” wide and 11” long. On the front, they’re covered with a shiny red fabric with a black lacy design. A 1” wide Velcro strip is sewn securely down the middle. About 7” of it is the rough Velcro side, and the smooth Velcro extends about 6” off the other side, making the cuffs very adjustable. They’re long enough to fit most all sizes of wrists and ankles. If your wrists or ankles are small the cuff will overlap, and if they’re large, you’ll end up with a section of skin that’s only covered by the Velcro strip. The cuffs are lightly padded, and are covered with soft, plush black material on the inside, so they won’t irritate your skin when worn.

scarletsinglecuffOn the top of each cuff is secured a black metal O-ring (nickel-free iron), and attached to this is a swivel clip (a nickel-free alloy)for easy fastening to the tethers. Of course, you can also attach the cuffs to themselves or other rings.

The tethers are each 60” long and 1” wide. Both ends have an O-ring on the end, and one O-ring has a swivel clip attached.  The end with just the O-ring has a slide clasp (made of Polyoxymethylene, or POM), so the length of the tether can be adjusted as needed. The tethers are strong, and are made out of Polypropylene (PP). The extension piece is also 60” long and 1” wide, with an O-ring on each end.

scarletconnectorsThe tethers can be used in a variety of ways. Without the extender, they can be joined under the bed by the swivel clips and placed and shortened as necessary to restrain cuffed wrists and ankles.  For extra large beds or play surfaces, they can be attached to the O-rings of the extender in pairs – two at each end – and shortened as necessary. They can also be clipped to any other type of ring, or even wrapped around the bedposts, for a variety of play scenarios.

This set can be spot cleaned or washed in the washing machine in a lingerie bag, and hung to dry. All the pieces fold up quite small, so they can be stored in a medium-sized bag in a drawer. The large packaging box can be recycled.

So, Did It Work? I like this set of restraints! I really like the red and black design of the cuffs, and they look quite nice when I’m wearing them with red or black lingerie. I find them comfortable to wear – the cuffs overlap on my wrists, but they still look nice, and the ankle cuffs fit well.  All of the cuffs are easy to adjust, and the Velcro keeps them securely closed once they’re put on. They don’t rub painfully against my skin if I’m struggling in them, either.  I like that the cuffs have the swivel clasps on them – this way they’re ready to go if we use them with the restraints, a spreader bar, or even clipped to themselves. The cuffs can be clipped so your wrists are together or your ankles are together, or you can even clip wrist cuff to ankle cuff so you’re restrained in position.

scarletanklesThe tethers are easy to slip up under the mattress when we’re not playing, and they’re very easy to adjust. We found a few other ways to use them as well, since I seem to have a lot of apparatuses with rings these can attach to.

The Cal Exotics Scandal line has several matching pieces that can be used with this set, including a collar and leash, eye mask, paddle, ball gag, harnesses, and a spreader bar – and I think I’ll pick up a few of these to go with my set.
