Go A Little Bit Dotty

Sometimes small vibrators are the way to go. They are easy to transport, often discreet, and can pack a punch where you need it. This month, as a Sexpert, I was excited to receive the Lil Teaser Dotty to review from Cal Exotics.

The Dotty comes in a small, clear plastic box with the product visible through the front. The back lists some of the toys features. Inside the box is the vibrator, a small instruction flyer, and 1 N battery so you can use Dotty right away.

This vibrator looks somewhat like a large tongue and is suitable for clitoral or vaginal use. It’s a lovely matte shade of lavender, with a darker purple base.

Dotty is 5” long overall, and can be inserted about 3” if you desire, and it ranges from about 5/8” wide at the tip to about 1” in diameter at the fullest part of its body. The difference in size between the body and the base isn’t enough to make Dotty safe for anal use unless you or your partner keeps a finger through the ring.

Dotty’s surface has a soft, velvety texture. No seam is visible anywhere. The top 1 1/4″ is extremely flexible, while the rest of the body is a little squishy, but firm and inflexible, since this is where the vibrating part is. The tip has two small nubs, or dots, under the curve.

The base consists of a cap with a ring. The ring has an opening of about 5/8”, which is large enough to slip your finger through to control Dotty during use. Twisting the base counterclockwise allows access to the battery compartment. Dotty uses 1 N battery, which is inserted + side down, and the battery direction is labeled inside the compartment. An O-ring sits at the bottom of the threads to make Dotty waterproof and safe to use in the shower or tub when the base is securely twisted closed.

Dotty doesn’t have an on/off button. Instead, twisting the base fully closed turns it on. Dotty only has 1 speed, a steady, moderate vibration. The vibration is strongest in the tip and the nubs, but can also be felt down the length of the toy.

Dotty is made of silicone, which is phthalates free and nonporous. It’s easy to clean with antibacterial soap and warm water, or you can use your favorite toy cleaner. Dotty should be patted dry, and stored with the battery removed. Only water-based lubricants should be used.

So, Does it Work? I like the design of this quite a bit, particularly the handle. I can slip my finger through and get greater control of Dotty without having to hold onto the vibrating body of the toy. The handle does transmit some vibration, but when gripped by my finger it’s barely noticeable.

I do wish Dotty had a few more vibration levels or was a bit more intense. For clitoral stimulation, the vibrations aren’t quite strong enough for me to orgasm, but they feel good and work well during foreplay to get me going. The nubs vibrate strongly, as does the tip, and I could get some good pinpoint stimulation with these.  I also wish Dotty used a regular sized battery instead of an N battery.  While the battery life is decent, a standard AAA is much easier to replace.

Internally, Dotty didn’t work for me. The tip is too flexible to get pressure on my g-spot, and without the g-spot stimulation it’s too thin and too short to realy work well for me.

The Dotty is waterproof, and I had no problems with any water getting in the battery compartment, either after a shower or a bath.  It’s also fairly quiet, so with the TV or some music on, no one knew I was using it.

If you’re looking for a smaller vibe with moderate vibrations for clitoral use and don’t need vibration patterns, give Dotty a try! It may be just what you’re looking for.

I’d like to thank Cal Exotics for sending this to me for free to review! If you’d like to give Dotty a try, you can get yours at EdenFantasys by clicking the widget below.

Not Quite Whipped Into A Frenzy

While I love long sexual encounters and lovemaking sessions, I also enjoy unplanned, spontaneous sex. Sex that isn’t planned, is spur of the moment, and quick. Sex on the stairs, a quickie in a bathroom, even fucking on an elevator or in the back seat of a car. Frenzy, one of July’s Sexis Naked Reader Book Club selections, is a collection of short stories where the frenzy refers to both the act and the stories themselves.

Frenzy is an oversized (8” x 5 1/2″) paperback published in 2008 by Cleis Press with easy to read type. It’s edited by Alison Tyler, who has authored more than 25 erotic novels, had her stories published in more than 80 anthologies, and has herself edited more than 45 erotic collections. I’ve come to really enjoy her stories and was delighted to find some in this collection.

In her introduction, Alison tells us that there’s nothing like a quickie, and she is referring to both the sexual act and the length of the stories. She packs 60 stories into 209 pages, some as short as 75 words, others as long as 1500. Most of the stories feature heterosexual couples, although there are a few that do not.

Brevity may be the soul of wit, but it isn’t always the heart of arousal. Most of the shorter stories here, and some of the longer ones, are just are just too short and undeveloped to be properly titillating. They are mostly well written, but don’t stimulate and in many cases are bland. One story, “Waves” by Alisha Steele, is even quite sad.

Plenty of gems grace this collection, however, including but not limited to:

“Paper Clips” by A. D. R. Forte   A woman arrives at his room, and a man shows her the pleasure of bondage with some creative pain from the paper clips in his briefcase.

“Pirate Treasure” by Janine Ashbless An actor and an actress on the set of a pirate movie have a bawdy and climaxing close encounter as extras in a bar during the filming of their scene.

“Coming to Conclusions” by Andrea Miller Rory doesn’t participate in acts of debauchery at monthly parties but she has a secret that Nick intends to reveal.

“Lake Logan” by Cheyenne Blue A couple gets stuck in their car in rising water off the side of a road during a storm. They can’t resist their urges and providing a show to passing motorists.

“Bastard” by Alison Tyler His belt buckle says Bastard, and a waitress hears the tale of how he came to get it from her coworker.

“Appetite” by Shanna Germain The most food centric story in the collection. A woman breaks her carb addiction but isn’t cured, and thinks of sex every time she is enticed by them. Bread and donuts become cocks, balls, and breasts as she struggles with her appetite.

“Take Note, Please” by Linda K. Sienkiewicz Anna awakens bound at the Men’s Sexology Institute, where Professor Mooney teaches a hands-on class on female genitalia stimulation on her vulnerable and unwilling(?) body.

Frenzy is easy to pick up and read a story or two at a time. You may find that reading several in a row increases your frenzy to get some of your own.

If you’d like to join in the Sexis Naked Reader Book Club in July, Frenzy would be a good choice. Read it now and join in the book discussion on the EdenFantasys forums later in the month. You can get your copy from EdenFantasys by clicking the widget below.

Bump, Bump, For My Love

I’ve been exploring a lot of rabbit vibrators recently. Some fit me well but don’t have the power, while others didn’t fit me well at all but are super strong. Some were smooth, while others had texture to spare. At times I feel a bit like Goldilocks, looking for the one that’s just right. My Cal Exotics Sexpert product for June turned out to be another rabbit, one I had high hopes for being the right one: the somewhat intimidating looking Power Bumper.

This rabbit vibrator comes in a large box with the toy visible through the front window and product information on the back. Even in the box the Bumper looks intriguing with its coloring and nubs. It has a very light, almost unnoticeable smell right out of the box.

The Power Bumper is a two-tone pink in color. The shaft and clitoral stimulator are a hot pink which is translucent, while the base is a more subdued carnation color. This is a good sized rabbit at 10” long and 5 1/4″ insertable. The shaft has a 1 1/2″ diameter, although it looks larger due to the texturing.

The texture on the Power Bumper is amazing. The TPR sleeve that covers the innards is composed of hundreds of tiny nubs all over. The entire shaft, the clitoral bunny (even his ears), everything except the base is nubbed. The nubs (and indeed the sleeve) are soft and squishy, and lightly tacky to the touch. They are flexible and not rigid to make insertion easier and stimulation comfortable and not painful. While the nubby sleeve that covers the vibrator is loose, it is firmly attached to the base.

The clitoral stimulator is in the shape of a rabbit with long ears. The rabbit extends 2 1/2″ out from the body when measured from the top attachment to the shaft. The bullet is incased in the rabbit’s body.

Inside the shaft the head and beads are visible. The head piece rests atop the beaded section and can be lifted up a bit. The head is somewhat flexible. The beaded section consists of 4 rows of 3 beads that are spaced around their tracks.

The Power Bumper runs on 4 AA batteries, which are inserted by turning the bottom of the base slightly to the left. The battery direction is clearly labeled by diagrams inside the base. An O-ring sits between the base and the cap to make this vibrator safe to use in the shower or bath (although it’s far easier to manipulate in a bathtub).

The black control buttons are located on the bottom of the base. Two buttons control the clitoral vibrator, while the other two control the rotation. The two buttons on the left are, from top to bottom, Vibro and Hi/Lo. Vibro turns the clitoral stimulator on and off, while Hi/Lo cycles between high and low speed. The bullet’s low speed is more what I’d call medium, while the high is fairly strong.

The right buttons from top to bottom are labeled Spin and Rev. Spin starts and stops the shaft rotation, while Rev reverses the direction. The shaft only rotates at one speed, which is moderate, regardless of which direction it rotates in.

This isn’t a super quiet toy, but it isn’t terribly loud when inserted, either. As long as you’ve got some background music on, no one will know you’re using it.

The Power Bumper is made of TPR, which is hypoallergenic and phthalates free. It is semi-porous, so use a condom if you’re planning to share. This vibrator should be cleaned both before and after use by washing with antibacterial soap and warm water or you favorite toy cleaner and patted dry. Because it’s squishy, it isn’t hard to clean, even with the nubs covering the entire surface. The Power Bumper should be stored away from other toys, ideally in its box or a protective bag. Both silicone and water-based lubes are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I liked the texture on this one – the nubs felt good, although I did have to use a lot of lube to get it in comfortably. The nubs made the Power Bumper feel a lot bigger in diameter than it would have if smooth. When the shaft was rotating they did provide some friction and stimulation since the sleeve is loose over the beads, and they also were stimulating when I thrust. I liked the nubs on the bunny as well, as they seemed to diffuse the vibration into multiple stimulation points.

The shaft rotation was decent, and I didn’t have any problems with the beads jamming. The bullet was moderately strong, and I liked that since it only had 2 speeds that it wasn’t super low on low. I would have liked the bullet to be located a bit farther down the bunny, however, so it hit my clit better. This is a problem I have with a lot of rabbits, where the most intense vibrations aren’t quite where I’d like them to be.  I wasn’t quite able to orgasm with this rabbit, but it worked well to get me close.

I didn’t find the buttons hard to use, and I actually liked their location on the bottom. It only took me a few tries to figure out what did what when I had it inserted, and since I tend to hold onto the base and not the bottom when using toys like this I didn’t hit them on accident.

This was fun to use in the tub as well. The water amplified the sound and it was louder than when I used it in my bedroom, but behind a closed door with the radio on it couldn’t be heard from the other side.

Shackles of Love

Having recently tried a pair of handcuffs (albeit plushy ones), my husband and I decided they were kind of fun. He wanted to try a different kind, so I let him do the browsing this time. What he came up with were the delightfully decadent Metal Wrist and Ankle Cuffs from EdenFantasys.

These cuffs come in a cardboard box with a picture of a topless woman wearing them. The back of the box has detailed product information on how to use the cuffs. Inside the box are the set of cuffs and four keys, two for the wrist cuffs and two for the ankle cuffs.

The cuffs are made of nickel-plated steel and are quite heavy. The set consists of 2 wrist cuffs and 2 ankle cuffs, all connected by chain. All the pieces are bright and shiny.

The wrist cuffs have 4” of chain connecting them. Each has a stop bar, which when up allows the cuff to be tightened and when down locks the cuff from moving in either direction. The cuffs have a quick release in case you lose the key, which can be activated by pressing up on the lever next to the keyhole. To open with the key, turn it clockwise 1/4 of a turn.

The ankle cuffs have a bit more range. They are connected by a 17 1/2″ chain so you can walk, or shuffle along, but you can’t move very fast. These cuffs can be locked singly or doubly. They are single locked by pressing the cuff down on the ankle and ratcheting them closed as tight as desired. To lock them double, the key can be used to press the plunger on the cuff’s top edge. This double locking prevents them from being tightened or loosened.

Unlike the wrist cuffs, the ankle cuffs don’t have a quick release, so you’ll want to make sure you don’t lose the keys on these! If double locked, the key must be turned 1/4 counterclockwise to release the double lock, then 1/4 turn clockwise to open them. If single locked, the key just needs to be turned 1/4 of a turn clockwise.

The wrist cuffs and ankle cuffs are connected by an 18” chain which is attached in the center of the connecting chain for each pair. Depending on your height, this chain will long enough to allow you to stand with your arms straight down by your side, but you won’t be able to raise your arms much at all. If you’re taller, you may find that you won’t be able to stand upright at all.

The cuffs and chains are made from metal, so they are non-porous and easy to clean. Wiping with a damp cloth and then drying should be sufficient to clean these. They can be lubricated with light oil if needed to keep them opening and closing smoothly.

So, Did They Work? We had a lot of fun with these. They were a bit more intimidating than plain wrist cuffs, and I could really feel the weight of the metal. I’m 5’7”, and I was able to stand fairly comfortably upright with these on. If you’re taller and want to be able to stand up, you’ll want to play with making the connecting chain longer or replacing it completely. I could move my arms up an inch or so, but that was all I could manage. When my wrists were cuffed from behind it was a bit more awkward to move, and it made me feel a lot more helpless. The metal is hard on the skin, and I found it left marks if my husband put them on too tight or I struggled too much.

We found these to be fun as well by cuffing my ankles and then looping the connecting chain around a table leg or pillar before cuffing my wrists.  This was a lot more uncomfortable, but made for some interesting play time.

One thing I would have liked is if the ankle cuffs had a quick release. While the handcuffs can be used without a key, you’ll be in trouble if you lose the key for the ankles. We separated our keys and put them in what we hope are safe locations so we’ll be able to release the ankle cuffs when needed. You also want to be careful with the keys and not use too much pressure so the key doesn’t snap off in the lock.

I don’t think these are something we’ll use all of the time, but they are a good addition to our toy box. I purchased mine at EdenFantasys. If you’d like to get some shackles of your own, you can get yours by clicking the widget below.

Run Silent, Run Deep

Sometimes I like my vibrators with a bit of flex and squishiness. Other times I prefer them hard and inflexible. Typically the hard ones are small and straight with buzzy vibes, but the Silent Vibrations Deep Massager from Doc Johnson didn’t look small and definitely wasn’t straight. I wasn’t sure how the vibrations would be, so I had to pick this one up and give it a try.

The Silent Vibrations comes in a see-through, easy to open plastic box with some product information on the sides and back. It looks large in the box, and it looks even better when in your hands. It comes in 2 colors – I chose the blue which is a lovely shade of turquoise.

This vibrator is 6” long with an insertable length of 4 1/2″. It has a diameter of 1 3/4″, which is nice and filling, especially since it doesn’t have an ounce of give. It’s made of plastic, so the surface is hard, smooth, and a bit shiny. It has a g-spot tip and curves which look like waves on the sides. It feels solid and thick, and looks a bit intimidating in your hand.

The base is separated from the shaft by a white ring. The base unscrews to access the battery compartment. What’s nice here is a battery holder slips out so you can load the 3 AA batteries.

The control for the Silent Vibrations is located on the bottom of the base. It’s a small, black wheel, and next to it is a directional scale labeled Off on one end and High on the other. The wheel is easy to turn with your thumb.

The Silent Vibrations doesn’t have any patterns – instead it has steady vibrations that go from low to strong. On low the vibrations are very deep and throbby and the vibrator shakes like a mini jackhammer. When the dial is spun to high it keeps its throbbiness with deep and stronger vibrations. The dial is easy to spin to the level you prefer. While I wouldn’t call this silent, it’s not very loud at all, especially when inserted.

SInce this vibrator is made of plastic it’s phthalates-free and nonporous. It’s easy to clean. Simply wash with warm water and antibacterial soap, taking care not to get water on the base (this isn’t waterproof, so water can get into the battery compartment if you’re not careful), then dry with a soft towel. Both water-based and silicone lubricants are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? This isn’t a bad vibrator for internal use, although it really didn’t wow me. It is filling, and I didn’t find it difficult to insert, even though it’s large and rigid. It also wasn’t hard to hold on to.  I was able to hit my g-spot, but the vibrations were a too low for me. I liked the fact that they were rumbly, but they just weren’t strong enough to get me off easily.

This didn’t work well for me clitorally either, since I prefer much stronger vibrations there (even the high and buzzy kind) and even using a lot of pressure wasn’t enough to make me climax without the vibrations.

If you like low to moderate, rumbly vibrations and firm vibrators with a bit of girth, the SIlent Vibrations vibrator might be a good one to try.  You can get yours from EdenFantasys by clicking the widget below.
