Bring Your Skin Alive!

My husband and I have been exploring BDSM a lot lately, and while we have the standard items, we haven’t experimented with a lot of sensation toys, other than floggers and paddles. When I saw the Pinwheel at GoodVibrations, I thought it looked like fun, so I had to request it to review.

The Pinwheel comes packaged inside a resealable plastic bag with a Good Vibrations cardboard topper. The toy itself is sealed in a black plastic sleeve, which is great to store it in as long as you’re careful how you cut it open.

This toy is just 7” long overall. It is polished stainless steel, so it gleams in the light. The blue handle is painted over the silver. The wheel itself is only 1 1/4″ in diameter, but even though it’s small, it’s a bit intimidating. Tiny, sharp needles radiate out from the center of the wheel, evenly spaced. They look dangerous and painful, and I have to admit I was a bit worried about trying this out.

The degree of pain the Pinwheel inflicts depends on the pressure you use. It probably won’t break the skin except with immense pressure, as there’s typically 3 of the needles that are in contact with your skin at any one time, which spreads the sensation out and prevents the needles from drawing blood. If the wheel is lightly run over the skin, it mostly tickles, but it’s a sharp tickling sensation. Run it harder, and it downright hurts. (I’ll say here that I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain – it doesn’t take much for me to be hurting and begging for mercy). I found that I could still feel tingles and pangs where the wheel ran over my skin for some time afterwards, and when it was used over that area again, my nerves were really on fire.

The Pinwheel is made of stainless steel, so it’s easy to care for, and with proper care will last a lifetime. It’s doubtful that the points will dull, due to the nature of the play. If necessary, this toy can be boiled, bleached, or run through the dishwater to clean, or it can be washed with warm water and soap. Don’t worry if you get any lube on it – water-based, oil, and silicone lubes won’t damage it in the slightest.

So, Did It Work? Oh, yes! I liked how this felt when my husband ran the Pinwheel over my body, and the tingling sensations really made my skin sensitive. While it tickled more than hurt on the bottoms of my feet, everywhere else my nerve endings felt immensely alive. I could feel phantom pricks from the needles for a long time afterwards, and even see the trails of the needles on my skin – little ribbons of pinpricks all over. It definitely tested my pain tolerance!

This is something that we’ve added to our arsenal, and while it isn’t for every time we play, it’s great for the nights we want sensation play (or even those nights that call for extra punishment before pleasure).

Flirt With Me

G-spot vibrators? Can be a lot of fun. Most of my favorite vibrators, although not all, are great for g-spot stimulation. Waterproof g-spot vibrators? Even better. So I was happy to get the Flirty G vibrator from Good Vibrations to review, to see if this would be a good addition to my collection.

The Flirty G comes in simple packaging. The plastic bag can be resealed for storage, and protects the toy while not in use.

The color of this toy is gorgeous. Blue is one of my favorite toy colors, and the Flirty G is a vibrant, deep turquoise (darker than in these pictures). It’s made of TPR and has no scent right out of the packaging. The surface is somewhat sticky and will pick up lint and hair like a magnet, so you’ll want to wash this one both before and after use. It can be cleaned with warm water and antibacterial soap, or you can use a toy cleaner. Water-based lubricants are safe to use.

The toy is actually a “sleeve”, about 5 1/2″ long, that fits over a vibrator (the Flirty G is 7 1/2” long altogether). The top, which is about 3 1/2″ long is soft and squishy, and incredibly flexible. The bottom 2” of the sleeve fit tightly over the plastic vibrator underneath. This top part can be removed by rolling the sleeve upwards and gently pulling the vibrator out. It’s just as easy to put back on the vibrator, so you can use this with or without the sleeve, and you can also remove the sleeve for easier cleaning. Just make sure that the inside of the sleeve is dry before putting it back on the vibrator.

The insertable portion has a flat head about 1 1/2″ long and 1” wide, meant to stimulate the g-spot. It sits atop a thin, flexible neck before attaching to the clitoral scoop, which is covered with tiny, flexible nubs.

The base is separated by a silver band and is plastic in the same lovely blue as the sleeve. Turning the base 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise reveals the battery compartment which holds 2 AAA batteries. The direction is clearly labeled. An O-ring sits under the threads to ensure water doesn’t get in when using this in the shower or bath.

On the bottom of the base is a white button which turns the Flirty G on and allows you to cycle through 9 functions:

– low steady vibration
– medium steady vibration
– high steady vibration
– 4 pulses, pause, repeat
– 2 long and a really long pulse, pause, repeat
– 3 short and 1 long pulse, repeats
– long pulses
– 5 short and one medium pulse, repeats
– 5 pulses, with the last two slightly longer than the first 3, repeats
– off

The Flirty G is fairly quiet, although a bit louder in the water. It probably won’t be heard if you’ve got some background ambience going on. The vibrations are moderate and are strongest in the clitoral scoop, although they can be felt through the entire toy.

So, Did It Work? I like the idea of this vibrator, but the sleeve didn’t work well for me. The tip and the shaft of the insertable portion were too flexible, and didn’t allow me to get the pressure on my g-spot that I need. The scoop was nice and I did like the nubs, but it could have been a bit longer for ideal stimulation. I also wish this had a dedicated off button. There are a lot of patterns to cycle through to turn this off in a hurry!

I do like that the sleeve is removable, and the vibrator alone was good during foreplay for clitoral stimulation. While it wasn’t strong enough for me to orgasm, it was strong enough to turn me on.

You’ll like the Flirty G if you don’t need very firm pressure on your g-spot, and prefer moderate vibratons.

Get Your Vibe On!

I first discovered OhMiBod several months ago, when I got a chance to review the NaughtiBod. Being able to have my vibrator dance to my iPod? And have a separate base to use it as a regular vibe? Fantastic! So I was thrilled when Good Vibrations sent me the OhMiBod Club Vibe to review.

The Club Vibe comes in a black box with product information on the back. Inside the box you’ll find an instruction manual in several languages, a bullet vibrator and controller, a splitter for attaching an ipod (with a 53” cord), 2 AAA batteries, a black thong (one size fits most), and a velvet pouch to store it all in.

The bullet is pink and quite small. It’s just 1 3/4″ long and 3/4″ wide. The bullet has a matte finish and is velvety smooth to the touch. It has a seam that runs around its middle, but that doesn’t detract from it’s use. The bullet is attached to a 30” cord with a jack at the end which plugs into the top of the controller.

The controller is 3” long by 1 1/2″ wide and just 1” thick. It has a belt clip so you can clip it right onto your waistband. It’s a matte black, with the OMB logo on the front, as well as a small microphone, which it uses to pick up the ambient noise. The front also has 2 large buttons, shaped like an X and an O. The X is on top and shuts the bullet off. The O on the bottom turns the bullet on, as well as cycles through the vibration settings in manual mode.

The belt clip and part of the back slide off to reveal the battery compartment, which holds 2 AAA batteries, with direction clearly labeled. On the side is the switch for the mode you want to use. Top is ambient mode, middle is manual mode, and bottom is ipod or mp3 player mode. The very bottom has a jack port to plug in the splitter for the ipod and headphones.

The bullet can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water and dried. For the controller, simply wipe with a damp cloth if necessary, and make sure not to get water near the battery compartment or the jack holes. Never submerge it, and remove the batteries when not in use.

The underwear (more of a thong style than g-string) are black with a 2” lace hipband. They are one size fits most (yes, we all know what that means). Unstretched, they are 28” around, and stretch to about 42”, but at that width they look like the fit would be a bit awkward. The inner front crotch panel has a pocket where the bullet slips in. The pocket is fairly long, so you can adjust the bullet to hit you where you need it. The underwear don’t have a tag, but they feel like cotton, and went fine through the washer on the handwash cycle and the dryer on low.

All of this fits in the provided pouch. The pouch is just 5” by 4” and has a drawstring. It is embroidered with OhMiBod on the front, and makes a small and compact carrying pouch for this toy.

So, how does this work? You put the bullet in the panties, jack it into the remote on your waist, and select your mode. Ambient mode picks up the surrounding sound through the microphone, which translates it into vibrations from the bullet. It’s not as sensitive as I thought it would be, and unless my husband talked at my waist it didn’t cause it to vibrate. Noises around me did, as long as they were loud enough – the TV did on occasion. It worked great, however, with the stereo on and some music with a heavy beat. It would work as well at a club or wherever loud music was played.

Manual mode was fun too, but this would have been better with a wireless controller. Really, what’s funner than turning over the remote to your partner and letting him pick the settings?

The manual mode features 7 settings:
– low and steady
– medium and steady
– high and steady
– pulses
– long pulses (super low, low, med high)
– low to medium with 2 pulses, medium to high with 2 pulses
– roller coaster with 2 high pulses at the top and buttom

To use this with an ipod, simply plug the splitter into the bottom, plug your ipod and headphones in, and let your playlist set the beat.

While the bullet doesn’t have overly strong vibrations, I wouldn’t want it to if I’m wearing this in public for an extended period of time.

Overall, I thought this was a lot of fun. The only trouble I had was really getting the bullet in the right place inside the panties. It stayed where I wanted it to better when I wore pants versus a skirt.
