Shimmer Here, Shimmer There!

I love bells and whistles as much as the next woman. Well, maybe in a different context (on my sex toys) but I like them all the same. But sometimes I want something basic that gets me off, without a lot of hoopla. Enter the Metallic Shimmer Vibe (also called the Water Shimmer), which I received for review from Babeland.com .

The Shimmer Vibe is by Cal Exotics comes in an easy to open plastic clamshell case. The vibrator is visible through the front, and a picture and some product information is on the insert visible through the back.

This is a nice sized vibrator, at 6” long. It’s a pretty mauve color with a shimmering tone. Made of ABS plastic with a metallic coating (so it’s phthalates free and non-porous), the vibe feels smooth to the touch, but it has an interesting feel to it. Slick, but a bit of drag, it’s hard to describe, but it’s nice. It also makes an interesting sound.

The Shimmer is just 1 1/4″ in diameter, with a tapered tip for easy insertion or use on your clit. The matching plastic base unscrews to access the battery compartment. This vibrator takes 2 AA batteries, which are inserted + side down. A rolled-up piece of paper inside the compartment shows the battery direction. Don’t remove the piece of paper! This helps cut down on any rattling the batteries make when the Shimmer is turned on. Below the threads is an O-ring, which makes the Shimmer waterproof and great to use in either the shower or tub. Just make sure to close the cap tightly so the O-ring is effective.

The vibration levels are controlled by twisting the dial at the bottom of the Shimmer’s base. They go from soft and gentle to decently strong buzzy vibrations. These vibrations are strongest in the tip and lessen considerably closer to the base, which has very little vibration at all. It is fairly loud, so background music is a necessity.

The Shimmer is easy to clean with warm water and antibacterial soap. It’s also easy to store, whether you stand it up on its base or keep it in a protective bag. You’ll want to be careful not to scratch the surface – it will leave a mark. Water-based and silicone lubricants are both safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I really like the color of this one, although I’m not overly partial to purple and pink vibrators. The metallic color is quite pretty, and I liked the way this felt.

I also liked the vibrations the Shimmer had. While it’s not the strongest vibrator I’ve used, the vibrations are quite strong, and I loved that they were so strong in the tip. This made the Shimmer useful as a clitoral vibe, as well as an internal one. I wish this had some sort of flared base on it – it’s a nice size for me for anal penetration.

The Shimmer worked great in the tub. I was able to submerge it without it stopping working, and afterwards the battery compartment was completely dry. I wasn’t crazy about this in the shower since I like to recline and use my water toys, but it operated with no problems there as well.

So far, the metallic coating has held up without any chipping or flaking, and I think with care it should look new for a long time to come.

If you’re looking for a basic vibrator with fairly strong vibrations, the Shimmer would be an excellent choice. Its relatively small size makes it ideal, and its usefulness as a clitoral stimulator as well as a vaginal vibrator should please most anyone. Plus, it’s waterproof! There’s nothing better than that.

What About Bob?

I’ve tried a lot of Lelo products, with mixed results. I moan for Mona, but Ina exasperates me. Mia is the cat’s meow, while Gigi is moderately enjoyable. Billy is the bomb. But, what about Bob? Here was a plug that looked simple yet intriguing, and I was thrilled when Babeland.com sent this to me for review.

Bob arrives in the standard Lelo packaging. The outer box is black, and imprinted with Lelo Homme on the front. The sides and back give some information about the product. Inside is the black Lelo box which contains Bob, a white satin storage pouch, an instruction manual and small pamphlets about Lelo’s 1 year and 10 year guarantees.

So, what about Bob? I requested Bob in navy, and he’s a beautiful deep matte blue, soft and smooth to the touch with very little drag. Bob is small, just 5” long overall, gently curved, with an insertable length of 3 1/2″. He is just 1” in diameter at his widest point. His tip is gently pointed, and after ballooning to this maximum at about 1 3/4″ down his body, Bob narrows into just 3/8” on his neck. Bob is firm, but his neck is very flexible.

Below the neck, Bob sports a ring about 1 1/4″ in diameter. The ring is almost 1” wide inside, and large enough to slip a finger through to control Bob and also allow for easy insertion and removal.

Bob is designed to be a prostate massager, but he works just fine if you don’t have a prostate. He’s easy to insert and feels filling, even with his small diameter. He stays in place and doesn’t slip out due to the narrowness of his neck, and his base (handle) fits comfortably between butt cheeks and makes him suitable to wear for extended periods of time, whether in or out of the house.

Bob is made of silicone, so he’s scentless, phthalates free and nonporous. He’s easy to clean with warm water and antibacterial soap, and he can also be boiled on the stove or run through the dishwasher on the top rack to sanitize him. Since Bob is silicone, only water-based lubricants are safe to use. He can be stored in his storage bag or in the box he comes in.

So, did Bob work?
I am so glad I got Bob, and wish I would have found him sooner! I love his size – he’s easy to insert and a great way to prep for something larger. His handle makes him comfortable to wear for extended periods, and he’s not noticeable under tight pants. The way his neck narrows also keeps him from falling out when I wear him out under a skirt.

I love Bob’s handle ring. It helps some in insertion, but makes him a lot easier to remove than grasping a flat base. It’s also useful for my husband, who can slip a finger through and gently tug on Bob, which feels oh so good.

Bob is a wonderful plug, and a great one to consider if you’re looking for a small, yet effective, and comfortable anal toy. Thank you to Babeland.com for sending him to me for free to review! If you’d like to experience Bob for yourself, you can buy him at Babeland.com . You won’t regret it!

How Sweet It Is

While I love internal vibration, it’s clitoral stimulation that gets me to orgasm the easiest. I’ve tried quite a few clitoral toys and I love variety, so I’m always looking to try another one. The BonBon looked intriguing, so I requested it to review from Babeland.com .

The BonBon is a cute clitoral stimulator from Natural Contours. It comes in a small box with the vibrator visible through the front. The sheer plastic lid slides off to reveal the BonBon, an instruction pamphlet in multiple languages, drawstring storage pouch, and 2 AAA batteries so you can try it out right away.

Like its namesake, the BonBon is tiny. It’s just 3” long (measured on the upper curve) and just a bit over 1/2″ thick at its thickest point. It’s 2” wide at its base, with a slim 1/4″ wide tip for pinpoint stimulation. The shape reminds me of the curved Ouija board dial.

The BonBon is brown, and looks a bit like a piece of chocolate (in fact, the pamphlet calls this “better than chocolate”, but it doesn’t smell like anything at all. The curve allows the BonBon to sit on your pubic bone for pinpoint clitoral stimulation. While this toy can also be used on other areas of the body like the shoulders or man’s perineum, it should never be inserted vaginally or anally.

The battery compartment is located on the right side of the BonBon. The slide-out piece is firmly seated and can be a bit hard to open. Once it’s off 2 AAA batteries can be inserted. The position isn’t indicated on the toy, only in the pamphlet. The one on the bottom goes + side up, while the other goes in the opposite way.

The BonBon only has one button on its top, which cycles through 4 settings:
– high, steady vibration
– medium, steady vibration
– low, steady vibration
– medium pulse pattern

A final push will turn the BonBon off. The vibrations are moderately strong and fairly quiet.

The BonBon is made of ABS plastic, so it’s phthalates-free, latex-free, nonporous, and hypoallergenic. It’s easy to clean with a damp washcloth and antibacterial soap. It is water resistant, but it shouldn’t be submerged while cleaning, nor used in the shower or bath. It should be stored in the provided storage bag when not in use. Both silicone and water-based lubricants are safe to use.

So, Does it Work? The BonBon is pretty fun. While it’s small, it isn’t hard to hold on to during use. The pamphlet suggests that it can be used inside a pair of panties, and indeed it can, but unless they’re really tight it doesn’t stay in place well. It’s too small to really use anywhere else on the body, but clitorally it’s easier to hang on to than a bullet. The vibrations are felt pretty uniformly all over, but they didn’t make my hand numb due to their moderate intensity. . It did work well during foreplay as a warm up, but for solo play I needed some internal stimulation as well to orgasm – it wasn’t quite strong enough to do it alone. At least for the first one.

I do think the order of the vibration patterns is interesting, and actually makes sense if you’re going for multiple orgasms. I find that I’m always super sensitive after the first one and a lower intensity can take me over the top easily at that point.

The pulse pattern was finicky on mine. The first time I tried it, it pulsed 3 times and then quit. I thought it was a 3 and then off pattern, but it never came back on. The second time I tried it, I got 7 pulses before it stopped. At that point, I figured out that the angle I was holding it at was having problems. When I had it level, either side up, it kept pulsing. If I tilted it, it would stop. When I took it level again it would continue its pulsing.

This happened about 5 times, and then my BonBon behaved and pulsed away no matter what angle I had it at. It’s continued to pulse on the setting now with no repeat of this behavior.

And She’ll Have Fun, Fun, Fun!

I adore Fun Factory toys. They’re some of my favorites, from Chester Cheeky to Benjamin Bond, from Smart Balls to Flexi Felix. The colors and the designs are fantastic, and the toys are just plain fun to use. Somehow, I hadn’t tried their clitoral stimulator yet, so I was excited to receive the Laya Spot from Babeland to review.

The Laya Spot, which is made in Germany, comes in the standard tan and red Fun Factory box, and is visible through the front window. The box contains the vibrator, a sample of BodyFluid Lovegel (silicone-based), and an instruction flyer in multiple languages.

This vibrator comes in several color combinations. The one I received is cream and pink, and it reminds me a lot of fresh-spun cotton candy and vanilla ice cream – almost good enough looking to eat. I almost expected it to smell like that too, but it’s completely odorless. The cream spots are hard, while the pink is softer and smooth with some drag to the surface.

The Laya Spot is easy and comfortable to hold, with its curves and ergonomic shape. It’s about 5 1/2″ long measured on the upper curve (4” on the bottom one) and is 4 3/4″ around its widest point. It does have a seam that runs around the sides, but it isn’t very noticeable and I didn’t feel it during use.

This is made of Elastomed, which is hypoallergenic, phthalates free, skin friendly, and nonporous. It should be cleaned both before and after use with mild soap and warm water and dried. The Laya Spot is splashproof, but not waterproof, so care should be taken while cleaning not to get water in the battery compartment. It should never be taken into the shower or bath. Both silicone and water-based lubricants are safe to use.

The battery compartment is accessed by twisting the cream colored base to the left. “Open” and “Close” are listed right above the base on the body to show you which way to turn the cap. The Laya Spot uses 2 AAA batteries, and their direction is clearly labeled. The pamphlet recommends using rechargeable batteries if possible.

Operation of the Laya Spot is done with two buttons on its top side. The + button is the larger of the two. Pressing this button for about 2 seconds turns the Layaspot on to a steady, low vibration. Pressing repeatedly will increase the intensity of the vibrations – it takes about 8 to reach the maximum vibration level.

Once on the maximum, pressing the + will cycle through 3 patterns: low to high vibration (repeats), faster low to high vibration (repeats) and a fast pulsing. The vibrations are felt mostly in the tip and hardly at all towards the base, so you won’t find your hand getting numb during use. The vibrations are quite intense on the high setting. The Laya Spot is fairly quiet, so with any kind of background noise on, no one will know you’re using it.

When the Laya Spot is on one of the patterns, pressing the – button will return it to the highest steady vibration setting. Pressing the – repeatedly will decrease the vibrations until the last press turns it off.

With its easy to hold shape and tip vibrations, the Laya Spot can be used for body massage as well as clitoral stimulation. This is meant for external use only – never insert it anally or vaginally.

So, Does it Work? I really like this one! The vibrations are strong and I can get the tip positioned just right to really get me incredibly turned on. Alone, or in combination with a few other toys, the Laya Spot is a good one to masturbate to orgasm with. It also worked well during foreplay.

The only real problem I had was with the base. I kept turning it by mistake while I was moving it about on my clit, which would cut the connection and turn it off. Once I held it a bit higher up, this wasn’t as much of a problem.

The Laya Spot is another great Fun Factory toy, and one I’m glad to have in my collection. I hope that they come out with a rechargeable version of this at some point!

Lick Me Baby, One More Time!

I always have to be careful with edible body products. So often they contain aspartame for sweetening, which I am allergic to and leaves me with a limited selection of products. I was excited when I saw the Babeland Body Lickable Oil up for review from Babeland – no aspartame here! I figured this would be a great way to sample the flavors and see which one or ones I liked best.

The set I received consists of four .25 oz bottles, each just 2” high. The bottles are clear with colored labels for the decadent flavor combinations: yellow is Pomegranate Vanilla,  blue is Mojito Peppermint, pink is Dulce de Leche, and orange is Chocolate Orange. Hungry yet?

The oils are thin and light, and rub into the skin, infusing it with luscious scent. They rub in completely, so these aren’t good for massage, but they are good for licking your partner all over. The flavors are subtle and not sweet, since these don’t contain any sugar, just sweet almond oil and flavoring.

How good are the scents and flavors? Here’s what we thought:

Pomegranate Vanilla – smells sweet, and mostly
like pomegranates with just the faintest hint of vanilla.
A bit citrus-like. Tastes like pomegranate orange,
without a lot of vanilla flavor.

Mojito Peppermint – lightly minty. We aren’t
sure if it smells or tastes like a mojito, but the
mint isn’t heavy or overpowering to the nose or
tongue and is surprisingly pleasant.

Dulce de Leche – My partner and I think this one
smells like maple syrup – and tastes like it too! This
was a positive for him – he loves maple syrup – this
was his favorite of the bunch.

Chocolate Orange – smells like chocolate and oranges –
just like those chocolate covered orange jelly sticks you
get around Christmas time – yummy! The taste is subtle
and has notes of both flavors.

My favorite was definitely the Chocolate Orange. I expected to like the Mojito Peppermint the least, but it was the Dulce de Leche that I didn’t care for that much. That one turned out to be my partner’s favorite though, so it will get used.

The scent and taste don’t last a long time, but long enough for your partner to apply them to you and lick them off. They’ll think you smell good enough to eat, and likely they’ll think you taste that was as well.

You can use these oils during oral sex as well, to add a bit of flavor to your licking fun, but be aware they are not latex-compatible.

Thank you to Babeland for sending me the Babeland Lickable Oil to review! If you’d like to try out one of the flavors (or them all!) you can get them in 1 ounce bottles for just $10 at Babeland.com .
