Hot With A Dash of Steam

What would you do without batteries? If you wanted a little extra fun and didn’t have a flesh and blood partner, your options before electricity and batteries (rechargeable or not) were pretty limited. But what if, in the Steam age, energy was being harnessed to power sexual devices and fuel carnal dreams? Such is the premise of Carnal Machines, one of the July selections of the Naked Reader Book Club.

Editor’s Pick

  • Barbara Carrellas’ Urban Tantra by Lucy Lemonade
  • I would describe Tantra as the presence of body and mind, breath, and pure enjoyment. This is the description I’ve developed from reading Urban Tantra, what I felt the book was trying to convey to me. Like some individuals I had the thought that Tantra was only for white, upper middle-class couples approaching mid-life crisis. Finishing Urban Tantra I consider it an excellent solo practice for self pleasure which can be combined with another individual.

  • Jollies Rider by Little Miss Naughtygirl
  • Until I found toyswap, I tried so hard to get one of anything that was made by Jollies, all I could get my hands on was this, the vastly under-reviewed Jollies Jollie Rider. This magical hunk of silicone arrived, and it was lust. I knew that I’d cherish it forever, or at least I thought I would, until I actually used it.

Note: A great review of a minimally reviewed product by Jollies. RIP Jollies.

Editor’s Pick

  • Fresh Beaded Nipple Huggers by CLP
  • Since there is no tension, they just fall right off every time I lean forward or shake too hard. They don’t ‘hug’ the nipple, but instead balance like paperclips on a pencil eraser–which is every bit as unsexy as it sounds. I did try to tighten the loop a bit, but the metal was pretty stubborn and did not budge enough for me to bend to size. I stopped just short of breaking them.

Note: It’s not the I love negative reviews, but often bad products lead to good writing and fun ways to say “it sucks.” Accompanying this review are some gorgeous pictures, it’s unfortunate they look far better than they work or actually are.

More, Please!

I love being a part of  Sexis’ Naked Reader Book Club, which has exposed me to an amazing amount and variety of erotica. The more I read, the more I find I enjoy the ones that have to do more with dominance and submission.  Whether physical or mental, these stories – if they’re well written – really turn me on and excite me when I’m reading them, which is what I feel good erotica should do.   Please, Sir, one of the June Book Club selections, is the second collection I’ve read recently on this topic, and one of those great collections that delivers multiple satisfying reads, particularly if, like me, the idea of submitting or reading about submission is something that excites you.
