I’ve seen singletails in the movies, in the hands of Zorro, Catwoman, and my favorite, Indiana Jones. It’s fun to watch him use it (and I even have the app on my phone to crack playfully at my partner) but it’s one of those things I’ve never done. I can’t imagine on my flesh. It makes such a sharp sound, and I don’t think I could handle the pain when it made impact, nor the blood, nor the marks. I know that they can be used lightly, but my partner would say, “If it’s going to be light, I might as well use a feather.”

Would I ever try one? I don’t know. If we were at a club or location where a scene was being done featuring one, I’d definitely watch. I’d like to see how someone skilled in their use could vary the intensity and sensation. I might even volunteer to feel the lash. In my house? Hell no. I could just see the plates and knickknacks flying off the shelves as my partner tried to stripe my backside while singing “Whip It”, and I’d get a case of the giggles picturing him behind me with one of those cone hats and dancing in a yellow jumpsuit. And then I’d really be in trouble.
