Surprisingly, I haven’t tried any JO products before. Not body products, not lubes, not pheromones, nada. I’m having fun using most of the other arousal products I’ve tried, though, and the JO Volt line looked like it might be fun. I hoped not the kind of fun of putting a battery on your tongue, but the kind that would get me closer to cumming faster. I always say I have a clit of steel, but it actually is sensitive to the products like this I’ve tried, and I didn’t want to overdo. JO makes 3 different strengths in the Volt line: 6v (green package), 9v (yellow package), and 12v (red package), and I opted to try the 6v Volt strength, which I got from EdenFantasys.
The 6v Volt arrived in a green and black package. It’s a lot of box for a little product, but it keeps it protected during shipping. The back of the box has instructions for use in several languages, but with the small font and white text on black background, you’ll want to pull out your magnifying glass to be able to read them. Inside the box is the bottle of Volt.
The plastic bottle holds 5 ml (1.7 oz) of Volt, and it should last for a good amount of time, considering the size of the application. If you use just 1 drop each time, there are approximately 100 uses in the bottle. The bottle lists the ingredients on the side. Volt is oil based, and its ingredients include fruit oil and bark, root, and seed oil extracts, as well as basil extracts and pearl powder. The basil, turmeric, and bark extracts give a clue to the scent the JO Volt has.
Volt has a tinge of lemon scent, undercut with pine. A lot of pine. What it reminds me of is when I first drank gin – no one told me to mix it with tonic, and drinking it in Pepsi was decidedly nasty. It was like drinking a forest, and taking a whiff of Volt smelled similar – it was like having a bottled forest under my nose. The scent lingers as well. On my finger that I used to apply it, I could smell it a good 30 minutes after use – even using soap and water didn’t remove the smell right away. Also, any toy that comes into contact with it smells like…yep, you guessed it: pine. Washing it off my Fairy, even with scented soap and water, did not make the pine go away right away, although it was completely gone within about an hour. Also, you’ll definitely want to make sure to wash your hands well before touching your eyes, nose, mouth, or other areas to avoid any unpleasant burn.
If you can stand the smell of pine, you might want to taste this if you’re going to go down on your partner before sex; otherwise I’d suggest getting your fill of oral before applying this.
Jo Volt is an oil, so it does run if you use a lot, and it may stain sheets or fabrics so take care when applying. The applicator bottle makes it easy to dispense the product one drop at a time, and just one drop will stay on your finger reasonably well until you go to rub it on your clit. It’s not sticky whatsoever. The product starts to work in 3-5 minutes – if you don’t find the sensation enough after this time, simply apply and rub in another drop.
The sensation Volt provides is interesting. It starts out feeling cool and then warms up. If you use more drops, the cooling sensation doesn’t seem to intensify but the warming one does. The warm sensation lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, longer if you reapply before the sensations fade.
So, Does It Work? I like this product, but I wish it didn’t smell so bad. The initial cooling sensation is nice – it’s like when your partner brushes their teeth with a mint or cinnamon toothpaste and then eats you out. The warming sensation is pretty strong, and I’m glad I went for the 6v Volt over the other strengths! It doesn’t burn, but it really makes my clit hot. The sensation seemed to be stronger when I was using a clit toy (mostly the Fairy Miniature), as its heat, combined with the Volt, felt hotter to me than with just manual stimulation from my partner. Did I cum faster? Overall I’d say yes, particularly when using toys, but it seemed have that effect during sex with manual stimulation as well.
I mentioned above that I wouldn’t taste this, and my partner refused to either. He hates…no, he despises gin, and nothing smelling like pine is heading into his mouth. He wasn’t crazy about the smell on his fingers, either, although it was nowhere near as strong as it was on my toys that came in contact with it.
Overall, I like the 6v Volt and the sensations it provides, but I’d love to find one that didn’t have the smell this one does. If you like a woodsy, pine smell this might not bother you at all, but if you’re not a fan this won’t be one you’ll want to try.
