What a Tease

As August and summer winds down, what better time to connect with yourself and your lover with both your body and soul? The new Body & Soul collection from Cal Exotics contains a variety of new vibrators and massagers, and this month, as part of the Cal Exotics Sexpert program, I got to review one of the new Connection clitoral vibrators from this line.

The Body & Soul Connection comes in a white box, with an actual size picture of the toy on the front, and product information in different languages on the back. Inside the box are the toy, wrapped in plastic, and a sheet with general battery insertion information.

The Connection comes in 2 colors, pink and blue. I received the blue one, and it’s a nice shade. The silicone parts (the actual massager part and the ring around the power/function button) are a royal blue, while the ABS plastic base and slightly raised button are darker and provide a nice contrast.  The silicone is smooth, with a light drag.

This clitoral vibrator reminds me a bit of the Form 2 in shape, although it’s much larger.  It’s 4 1/2″ long overall, with an egg-shaped body that fits comfortably in your hand. It has a flat part on the bottom back, and the base is weighted, allowing you to stand the Connection upright on a flat surface.

The prongs, or ears, are about 1 1/4″ tall. There’s a slight separation between them, and they can be flexed apart. The tips are firm, and are where the vibrators inside are located. They’re also nicely rounded. These prongs are meant to sit on each side of your clit for stimulation, and they’ll separate far enough for most users. If you don’t care for the side-stimulation, you can always hold the Connection so that either prong rests directly on top of your clit.

A seam runs all the way around the plastic, and this indicates where to access the battery compartment. Simply twist slightly counter-clockwise to separate the two halves. The battery direction is indicated by a small piece of paper inside each battery tube.  Insert 2 AAA batteries, and then align the top and bottom halves and press together; twist clockwise to close the toy. When the toy is completely closed, it is waterproof and can be used in both the shower or tub.

The Connection is controlled by the single button on its front. Press once to turn it on, and then each press will give you another of the 10 patterns:

  • Low steady vibrations
  • Medium steady vibrations
  • High steady vibrations
  • Long pulses
  • Short, medium, long pulse
  • Long 4 second  pulses
  • 3 short pulses, 2 long pulses
  • Low to med to high steady, 1 sec each
  • Short and long pulse pattern
  • pulse pattern followed by low to high steady vibration

Pressing and holding the button for 2-3 seconds turns the Connection off. The silicone ring around the button is backlit with a red LED light, and this light glows or flashes to the pattern or vibration selected.

The vibrations are almost entirely in the tips of the prongs, although they travel down each a little bit. They aren’t felt in the base at all.  This toy is fairly quiet, but it does have an interesting sound that’s somewhat melodic as you go from the low to high vibrations, and they change in pitch depending on the pressure you’re using.  You’ll need some background music or other sound to hide the sound. The toy will heat up some, but even after 45 minutes of use it doesn’t get too hot to handle.

The Body & Soul Connection is easy to clean, and should be washed both before and after use with antibacterial soap and water. It can be patted dry, and stored either in its box or in a toy bag. You’ll want to remove the batteries before storing, as it doesn’t have any locking feature.  Only waterbased lubes should be used.

So, Did It Work? The Body & Soul Connection is a great little teaser. I do much better with vibes that directly press on my clit, but I will say that the prongs on each side, especially on high, give me a tingling, teasing sensation that makes me crave direct and stronger stimulation even more.  The prongs can be turned, so one or the other presses on my clit, but the vibes aren’t strong enough to elevate this above the tease level. They are very buzzy and, since the power is only 2 AAA batteries, they don’t have the power that will really get me off.  Now, strapped down and being teased for long periods on end, or engaged in a long foreplay session, I like them, particularly on some of the pulse patterns. Using this alone, I’ll switch vibes when I’m really ready to cum.

One other way this was fun to use was on my nipples. With the prongs on each side, the vibrations were just about right, and they felt really good. It almost made me wish that I had two of them, so I wouldn’t have a neglected nipple.

Overall, if you want something that offers a teasing sensation or prefer lighter, buzzier vibrations, you’ll enjoy the Body & Soul Connection, and you’ll likely enjoy using this on other areas of the body. If you’re looking for powerhouse, throbby vibrations, this won’t be the vibe for you.
