I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food. While I’ll have fried rice occasionally, Wonton leaves me wanting, and Chow Mein has never been my cup of tea. Fortune cookies, on the other hand, I’ve always thought were rather fun. They aren’t the best tasting dessert, but the fortunes can be amusing, and you never know if the lottery numbers will really strike it big. With that in mind, I decided to try the Happy Ending Fortune Cookies (Fetish Edition), one of four themed cookies (the others are Regular, Valentine’s, and Pride) from Icon Brands that EdenFantasys gave me to review.
These cookies come in a large red, black and white recyclable cardboard package, like what you’d find on the supermarket shelf. The cute “Happy Ending” name is prominently displayed and, playing on the whole “50 Shades of Grey” phenomenon, a small red devil head proclaims “50 Shades of Play”. It’s really more like 7, as you get 7 fortune cookies inside, each individually wrapped and enough for 1 each day of the week. Each cookie is just 35 calories, so they won’t weigh you down. They taste just like any other fortune cookie – crisp, crunchy, and slightly sweet.
The back of the box gives you a sample of the phrases that might be found inside the cookies (I had 7 different phrases in all, and I’m not sure if there’s more than 7). It also tells you that the cookies are made in the USA, and 1% of all proceeds are donated to fight sex trafficking. Ingredients are also listed and are standard for cookies; these do contain wheat, soy and eggs, so those with allergies will want to avoid them.
The cookies are all standard sized, so when you’re ready for a treat, simply remove one from the protective wrapping, snap it open, and pull out the fortune inside before eating. Depending on your relationship, the fortune may be more appropriate for one partner or another, but if you’re only eating one, give the fortune to the partner it makes sense for.
We took turns opening them, one a night, over the course of a week.
I got the first one. The cookie I opened had the message “You’ve been naughty, tonight you’re gonna get spanked!” Well, I had been rather naughty, and my husband did make that fortune come true.
My husband opened the second cookie. “Blindfold me and whisper your deepest desires in my ear.” He was happy to do so, and I suspect had me blushing.
The third cookie had this message: “Take my clothes off and tie me up.” It’s not something I do to him all the time, but it was fun to switch roles around.
He opened the fourth cookie: “No talking back: do what I say in bed.” Again, a bit of a reversal for us, but I think he did enjoy me taking charge for the night.
My next cookie, the fifth: “Pour it over my body and lick it off.” Well, this one was a bit odd. Pour what, exactly? I decided to go with some chocolate syrup, since I would be doing the licking – he would have opted for honey or strawberry syrup.
He got to open the sixth one: “Tease me with your tongue.” I will admit there are few things I love more than when he uses his tongue, so this one got the night started particularly well.
Finally, we were down to the final cookie, which I opened: “Pull my hair and tell me how you want it.” He likes me to pull his hair on occasion, although usually I’m on the receiving end, but I certainly did tell him what I wanted that night.
So, Did They Work? These were actually fun, and we both thought that they made a good start for a night of play. I’d honestly been expecting a bit more raunchy slogans or suggestions, but all were good for us and I think most couples who enjoy even light bondage play and teasing would find these amusing, whether used over the course of a week or more infrequently. Even if you aren’t crazy about the taste of fortune cookies, a small bite before fulfilling the fortune is all you need. And, unlike regular fortune cookies, it’s a lot easier to make these fortunes into fulfilling prophecies.
