Venus, If You Will…

It seems like most of my vibrators lately, if they aren’t clitoral, are G-spot. Which surprises me a bit, as I never used to go for the G-spot kind – now it’s almost all I look for.  So I was happy to try out the Berman Venus G vibrator from Babeland.com .

The Venus G arrived wrapped in plastic. It’s a fairly standard looking vibrator in a pretty lilac color. With a large silver band and black base.  It’s about 8 3/4″ when measured straight from top to bottom, and about 9 1/2″ when measured from the tip down the back curve.  Six straight inches are insertable.

The tip is somewhat narrower than the rest of the toy at 7/8” in diameter, and the shaft is about 1 1/4″.  Three narrow bands, made of the same material as the shaft, encircle the Venus G starting at 1 3/4″ up from the silver band, and they cover 1 1/4″ evenly spaced. The toy is slightly wider over the bands at 1 3/8”, and provide a small amount of extra stimulation internally when using the toy.  The tip is somewhat flexible, while the shaft is firm and rigid. The silicone covering is smooth with a bit of drag.  A noticeable ridge runs up the front and down the back. The ridge can be felt with your fingers, but it isn’t noticeable during use.

The large silver band is about 2” high with a shiny, lightly detailed surface.   The band provides a place to grasp the Venus G during use,  although it can get extremely slippery if you’ve got lube on your hand.  There’s no gap between the silver band and the silicone – the sleeve is firmly set in place.

The battery compartment is accessed by twisting off the black base.  Three AAA batteries power the Venus G, and they are inserted + side first.

The speed of the Venus G is controlled by twisting the bottom of the base. The vibrations are all steady and can be changed from low to high. The highest setting is low/moderate in intensity and can be felt down the tip through the shaft. It’s tingly and buzzy, and also very quiet – with the TV on you won’t be able to hear the Venus G when it’s running from a few feet away.

This vibrator is easy to clean both before and after use with mild soap and warm water. It can be patted dry, and then ideally stored in a bag. Only water-based lubricants are safe to use.

So, Did It Work? I wasn’t crazy about this one. The shape and size were fine (even at  just 1 1/4″ I liked the feel of this one), and it did hit my G-spot, when it didn’t twist around. This is something I have problems with on G-spot toys without something different around the base to indicate front and back – I find that they have a tendency to move around and it’s difficult for me to tell when they’re the right direction or which way they rotated. Since the Venus G doesn’t have buttons on the front or any kind of protuberance, I had trouble getting it realigned correctly without removing and reinserting it.  The vibrations were also too weak. If I’m going to use a vibrator instead of a dildo for my G-spot, I prefer stronger vibrations, or more throbby ones. These were more of a tickling sensation rather than good and strong.

If you like your G-spot toys at this moderate size and don’t mind that the vibrations aren’t strong, you may find the Venus G will work for you.
